Why you’ll love this role as Senior Library Officer at Civica
We are looking for a dedicated and service-focused Senior Library Officer to assist in the operations of our Managed Libraries HQ team. This position involves providing operational support and coverage for specialised libraries.
The position is offered on a 6-month contract basis.
The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring smooth day-to-day library operations, maintaining library systems and collections, and delivering quality services that promote reading, research and information literacy among users.
- Support the efficient day-to-day operations and administration of the library
- Maintain library systems, resources and equipment to ensure operational readiness
- Implement and adhere to library policies and procedures, including circulation, collection development, preservation and condemnation processes
- Conduct inventory checks and generate collection statistics reports using the Library Automation System (LAS)
- Organise library collections and functional areas with clear signage and guides
- Shelve and maintain collections according to the Dewey Decimal Classification System
- Operate the LAS for circulation, cataloguing and online enquiries while ensuring accurate data maintenance
- Coordinate procurement, selection and delivery of print and digital resources
- Classify, catalogue and accession new materials into the LAS
- Work with stakeholders to acquire relevant and up-to-date library materials
- Process loans, renewals, reservations and inter-library loan requests promptly
- Monitor overdue reminders and follow up on recalled resources
- Provide advisory, reference and information services to library users
- Respond to walk-in, phone and email enquiries professionally and efficiently
- Assist users with searches across print and non-print resources
- Curate reading lists and resource recommendations for events and patron requests
- Gather user feedback and support reference advisory services
- Support the planning and execution of library workshops, programmes and activities
- Design and implement promotional initiatives to encourage library usage
- Prepare monthly displays, newsletters and publicity materials
- Assist in compiling monthly reports on library usage, statistics and activities
What You Will Bring

Qualifications & Experience:
- Diploma or an equivalent qualification from a recognised institution
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in library operations or information services
- Familiarity with the Singapore education landscape, with an appreciation for supporting professional learning and development through library services
Essential Competencies:
- Sound understanding of library operations, including circulation, cataloguing and reference services
- Working knowledge of Library Automation Systems (LAS) and digital library platforms
- Strong attention to detail with good organisational and record-management capabilities
- Service-oriented with effective interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with internal and external stakeholders
- Adaptable, resourceful and open to learning new technologies and evolving workflows
