What we are looking for:

We’re looking for an experienced Engineering Manager to lead our Platform team, which is responsible for building and scaling the core infrastructure that powers our product. This role is ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of technical leadership and operational excellence. You’ll oversee day-to-day operations of the team, set the technical direction for platform initiatives, and ensure that our core product is built on a strong, scalable foundation.

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of engineering management experience, ideally leading platform, infrastructure, or core services teams.
  • Strong technical background in building distributed systems, APIs, or core platform services.
  • Proven ability to manage team operations—capacity planning, process improvements, and delivery tracking.
  • Skilled in mentoring engineers and fostering a healthy team culture.
  • Excellent communicator who can bridge technical and business perspectives.
  • Startup mindset: you’re resourceful, adaptable, and thrive in fast-moving environments.

Bonus Points

  • Experience with payments, fintech, or other API-driven products.
  • Prior experience at an early-stage, high-growth startup.
  • Hands-on coding experience (we don’t expect you to code daily, but a technical foundation is key).

Key Responsibilities:

Team Leadership & Operations

  • Manage, mentor, and grow a high-performing platform engineering team.
  • Drive execution, capacity planning, and delivery for platform initiatives.
  • Implement and improve processes for project tracking, quality, and team productivity.
  • Partner with recruiting to scale the team thoughtfully.

Technical Leadership

  • Provide technical direction for the platform roadmap, ensuring alignment with company and product goals.
  • Lead architectural discussions and ensure best practices around scalability, reliability, and performance.
  • Collaborate closely with Product, Security, and other Engineering teams to ensure our platform unlocks velocity across the company.
  • Balance short-term delivery needs with long-term technical investments.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with the Director of Engineering to define team priorities and success metrics.
  • Partner with product managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to align platform initiatives with business needs.
  • Communicate progress, challenges, and outcomes to leadership and the broader company.

Your base salary would fall within the bands below. Please keep in mind that the equity portion of your offer is not included in these numbers and represents a significant part of your total compensation.

Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries at our headquarters in San Francisco, California. Individual pay is determined by work location, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
