About the Role:
Monitoring Imagery is at the heart of our mission to deliver timely, reliable, and actionable views of the Earth. As the Senior Product Manager for Monitoring Imagery Products, you will own the strategy and roadmap for how we collect, process, and deliver global monitoring imagery. This role bridges satellite operations, engineering, and commercial teams to ensure our core imagery product delivers maximum value to customers who rely on broad-area monitoring for insights and decision-making. The ideal candidate has a passion for applying Earth Observation to solve global challenges.
This is a full-time, remote position based in the United States. If located near an office, you are expected to work from that office 3 days per week.
Impact You’ll Own:
- Define and drive the end-to-end product strategy for monitoring imagery, aligning with company priorities and customer needs
- Define product requirements for Planet’s newly announced New Generation Monitoring (NGM) mission and strategically make product decisions to ensure a smooth transition to that new product line
- Define collection and product requirements for persistent, medium-res systems
- Prioritize improvements in cadence, image quality, coverage, cost, and latency, in support of company priorities
- Partner with image processing, quality, and engineering teams to improve imagery quality and delivery pipelines
- Analyze usage patterns and customer feedback to drive iteration on how we serve specific customer use cases and Planet solutions.
- Interface with Platform to drive delivery requirements for monitoring missions
- Define success metrics and use data-driven insights to guide product decisions and communicate impact
- Champion the voice of the customer to ensure our imagery products enable solutions across industries and use cases
What You Bring:
- 6+ years of product management experience, ideally in Earth Observation, geospatial, or related technical domains.
- Excellent understanding of satellite imagery, remote sensing, or large-scale data products.
- Experience balancing technical trade-offs and customer needs in complex product ecosystems.
- Ability to align diverse stakeholders around strategy, priorities, and execution.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts into business value.
- Superb analytical and problem-solving skills, with a data-informed decision-making approach.
- Experience effectively collaborating with Engineering teams and delivering results
- Experience working with and meeting the needs of customers
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize appropriately
What Makes You Stand Out:
- Experience with monitoring-focused EO products.
- Background in remote sensing science, image processing, or geospatial data analysis.
- Experience building and scaling core data or imagery products that serve multiple market segments.
- Experience working closely with operations teams and understanding the realities of satellite or sensor constraints.

Compensation:
The US base salary range for this full-time position at the commencement of employment is listed below. Additionally, this role might be eligible for discretionary short-term and long-term incentives (bonus and equity). The final salary range is determined by job related experience, skills and location. The range displays our typical hiring range for new hire salaries in US locations only. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.
New York City + California Salary Range
$153,000—$191,300 USD
San Francisco Salary Range
$162,600—$203,200 USD
US National Salary Range
$142,800—$178,500 USD
