Our primary product, The Signal Ocean Platform, helps shipping and commodities professionals navigate their complex decision making. Driven by advanced machine learning and artificial intelligence, our technology suite provides tailored, exclusive insights that support our clients in achieving performance and efficiency. By securely handling and combining private and public shipping data flows, and applying advanced analytics, insights are delivered over web and mobile applications, as well as through a rich set of APIs and SDKs. Our backend architecture is abstracted to modularly offer deep analytics capabilities that are leveraged in the solutions that we offer or can be directly embedded in our client’s system topologies.

About the role:  We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Associate Product Manager to join our Vessels API squad in Athens. This is a hands-on role working with one of the largest vessel datasets in the industry - over 50,000 Tanker, Dry, LNG, and LPG vessels, each with more than 100 key particulars ranging from dimensions and cargo-handling equipment to ownership and sanctions.

As part of the team, you’ll help ensure that our vessel data remains accurate, reliable, and continuously evolving. You’ll work closely with engineers, data analysts, and the team lead to support seamless data integration, quality monitoring, and new data source evaluations. Over time, you’ll develop deep knowledge of vessel particulars, their role in shipping workflows, and their connection to wider models such as voyages. This role is ideal for someone early in their product career, eager to grow technical and industry expertise while contributing real impact.

At Signal, we are committed to finding people who are respectful, inclusive, and team players, embodying these values in every role.

What you will do in this role:

  • Support the management of vessel data pipelines - in close collaboration with engineers and data analysts - to ensure our dataset is continuously updated.
  • Contribute to evaluating new data sources and setting up ETLs to enhance our vessel particulars dataset
  • Collaborate closely with the squad dev lead, engineers, and analysts to translate technical needs into clear product requirements
  • Work with Sales and other client-facing teams to gather feedback, understand client requests, and help prioritise enhancements to the Vessels API
  • Assist in defining and refining processes to improve data quality, monitoring, and resilience against noisy or inconsistent sources
  • Monitor data quality through automated checks and offline processes, escalating or resolving errors as needed
  • Learn and apply knowledge of shipping concepts (vessel types, particulars, sanctions, ownership) and their connections to wider models in Signal
  • Help ensure seamless insertion of new-builds into the system
  • Document workflows and maintain organised product backlogs to support effective team execution

What you bring to the team:

  • Initial experience as a Product Manager, preferably in or around data platforms
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and a structured approach to problem solving
  • Good technical skills - SQL required; Python familiarity strongly preferred
  • Excellent organisational and collaboration skills, with a willingness to learn from and support team members
  • Strong communication skills in English, both written and spoken
  • Ability to work with and reason about noisy data
  • Curiosity about shipping, data-intensive products, and APIs, and eagerness to grow into a deeper understanding of vessel particulars and related workflows

What we offer:

  • Generous compensation with additional performance incentives.
  • Coverage under the company’s collective health insurance plan.
  • Opportunity to work alongside experienced people with deep knowledge in software engineering, data science & shipping business who are always eager to mentor.
  • Signal’s hybrid work policy currently includes six on-site working days per month, during which our happy hour events take place. Starting January 2026, we’ll transition to a hybrid setup with nine on-site days per month.
  • 2-4 weeks of onboarding training to prepare you for your new role, having the opportunity to meet about 30 trainers while diving deep into our products and/or the shipping world.
  • Career growth opportunities and a structured development discussion every 4 months.
  • Personal learning budget for training, seminars, conferences (750 to 2000 EUR annually depending on seniority).
  • Regular team bonding events and activities.

Strict adherence to Confidentiality, Intellectual Property and Non-Compete provisions is expected.

All applications will be considered under the terms and conditions of confidentiality in accordance with the regulations of personal data protection.

We are an Equal Opportunity Employer committed to diversity and inclusion in the workplace. At Signal, we believe that diversity of opinions, approaches and viewpoints is key to our innovation and success and we encourage that with our hiring, development and rewards practices.
