Server Programmer
We are looking for a Server Programmer to join the Sumo India engineering team.
The server programmer will be responsible for the design and implementation of server features, bug fixes and their deployment on a live game.
In this role you will:
- Work with designers and gameplay programmers to design, build and own server powered gameplay features.
- Work with the publisher in specifying requirements, investigating their technology, and troubleshooting problems.
- Use a wide variety of proprietary server technologies to develop solutions with.
- Write technical proposals clearly explaining your ideas and considering potential challenges and alternative approaches.
- Liaise with developers from other companies to solve challenging problems affecting live games.
- Document your work including new processes and newly created APIs.
- Contribute to regular code reviews, while championing code quality and best practices.
We need you to have:
- Strong Java development skills and experience along with good knowledge of client/server networking.
- Concurrent programming experience in a server environment.
- Large scale server software development on Google Cloud or AWS and/or dedicated servers (preferably a game backend) experience.
- MySql and MongoDB experience, including knowledge of their scalability and data integrity concerns.
- Eclipse, Docker and Git experience.
- Excellent communication skills.
- A willingness to learn new programming languages and technologies.
- A desire to solve problems, including in other people’s code.
Nice to have skills and experience:
- Linux.
- Akka.
- C/C++ and/or Objective C.
- Xcode development environment.
- Android Studio development environment.
- Agile development practices.
