Job description

Our Mission

We’re building a category-defining company to increase the speed of innovation in higher education. Woolf’s mission is to increase access to world-class higher education and ensure that it is globally recognized and transferable. We help qualified education organizations launch world-class higher education programs that issue academic credits and globally recognized accredited degrees.

Woolf University is a collegiate higher education institution modeled on the University of Oxford and Delhi University. We are the first global collegiate university to allow other education organizations to join as member colleges and issue degrees. Our colleges include some of the fastest growing EdTech companies in the world: UpGrad, Scaler, GoIT, EduBridge, AlmaBetter, and others. We have a pipeline of further prospects in India, where we continue to grow.

Our Team

We are a globally distributed, fully remote team with a bias for action. Our team is mission-aligned, high EQ/low ego, and committed to excellence. Our investor group includes First Round Capital (who also led the investment for Notion, Roblox, Uber, and Square), Connect Ventures, IOVC, All Access Fund, and Tribe Capital.

The Role

We’re looking for a detail-oriented and systematic individual to help ensure the most robust quality assurance system ever built. You will work directly with senior members of the Accreditation Team and leading education organizations to manage accreditation compliance paperwork. We will prioritize operationally strong candidates with a proven attention to detail and willingness to learn the details of accreditation regulation. While you do not need any knowledge of academic accreditation or law in the EU or US, this role requires you to have either a background in law or a PhD.

Key Responsibilities

1) Academic Administration

You will design and file regulatory paperwork related to the ongoing compliance requirements for accreditation. You’ll be provided with support and guidance for appropriate filings, but you will quickly become self-sufficient in your ability to compose 50-150 page forms related.

2) Quality Assurance

You’ll get up to speed on the specialized QA requirements for filing long forms and paperwork, and your attention to detail means that you’ll understand the wide-ranging, systematic impact of small details.

3) Project Management

You must be able to manage large and complex projects with multiple workstreams and ensure that they are completed with minimal support. You’ll need to be self-activating: rather than waiting for an email reply, you’ll pick up the phone and call.

4) Instructional Design

You’ll collaboratively help both senior and junior academics reduce complexity in their new academic courses and degree designs, with a keen understanding of how degree design will impact students and the future usability of the program.

5) Stakeholder management

You’re ready to interact across cultural barriers with academic leaders, government officials, and others — all while remaining polite, patient, and cheerful despite challenges. You’ll persist and remain goal-focused, even when others might be exasperated.

  • Graduate-level education
  • Either a PhD, experience in law, or 5+ years in academic administration
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • You’re a meticulous, systematic, goal focused, and able to work with complex regulatory frameworks
  • You’re patient but persistent in the face of bureaucratic inertia
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to distill complex information and communicate it effectively
  • Strong, solution-oriented problem-solving skills
  • Readiness to work in a start-up environment — you’ll be a self-starter, able to take initiative in breaking ambiguous projects into concrete, time-bound steps

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated expertise in the accreditation function, with emphasis on US higher education

  • Current experience with achieving compliance with accreditation standards

  • Previous experience or demonstrated passion for higher education/edtech

  • Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and adapt quickly to new circumstances

  • Passion for Woolf’s mission, vision, and embodiment of our core values

  • Experience working remotely

  • Background in law strongly preferred

  • Contract Structure & Compensation

    • Contract Type: Independent Contractor (Global)
    • Please note: contractors are responsible for their own taxes and benefits in compliance with their local regulations.
  • Why Woolf?

    • Global Impact: Work with education leaders worldwide to shape the future of learning.
    • Remote Flexibility: Work from anywhere with a schedule that fits your lifestyle.
    • Growth Potential: Join a fast-growing company with opportunities to expand your role.
    • Innovative Culture: Be part of a mission-driven team backed by top investors.
