Job description
đ About Owner.com
Owner is the all-in-one platform that restaurants use to succeed online.
Thousands of restaurant owners use our tools to build their website, drive online orders, create their own branded app, manage their customer relationships, and set up marketing automations.
You can think of it as Shopify meets HubSpot, but specifically for restaurants.
Learn more about the problems we are solving for our customers here.
đ Our vision
Weâre starting by helping independent restaurants succeed online.
But itâs not just restaurants that need our help. Most local businesses are struggling with these same problems. Huge technology corporations are taking their customers, bleeding their profits, and making it hard for them to survive.
Once we nail the solution for restaurants â weâll scale it into every other local business type.
In the future we envision, tens of millions of local business owners will use our technology to succeed in the digital age.
đ Our traction
In just over 3 years we’ve generated tens of millions in revenue, served millions of guests, and processed hundreds of millions of online orders.
More importantly, weâve helped thousands of restaurant owners save their businesses - and not only survive, but thrive.
â Our team
Our team grew from under 100 to nearly 200 talented people in 2024. Weâve got top talent from the most successful companies in SMB software, including: Shopify, HubSpot, DoorDash, ServiceTitan, Rappi, Faire and Stripe.
Weâll be scaling even faster in 2025 to keep pace with our customer growth.
đ Where we work
Owner is a remote-first, global company headquartered in San Francisco, with a sales hub in Toronto. For a few of our roles we prioritize in-person collaboration at one of our office locations. Most of our employees are distributed throughout the globe. Please review the role description and discuss with your recruiter for more details on location.
đWhy weâre looking for you
As Owner enters its next phase of growth, maintaining our high talent bar and intense pace is critical. Weâre seeking a world-class Head of Talent whoâs ready for the challenge and excited to help build a generational company, one exceptional hire at a time.
In this role youâll build and evolve the recruiting strategy that powers our growth - architecting the end-to-end vision, strategy and operations of the talent function at Owner. Youâll lead a high-performing team and work closely with leaders across Sales, Engineering, Product, and G&A to forecast needs, run strategic searches, and create a consistently excellent candidate experience.
We’re not building a copy-paste recruiting function, weâre building one specific to Owner: fast, rigorous, data-informed, and human. Youâll be a builder, operator, executive partner, and hands-on recruiter. This is your opportunity to design a talent ecosystem that reflects our values and creates a meaningful edge in a competitive market.
This is a hybrid, remote-first role based in the San Francisco Bay Area.
đ„ The impact you will have
- Design, build, and scale a recruiting engine that delivers world-class outcomes across speed, quality, and candidate experience
- Partner with department heads and Finance to forecast headcount and hiring priorities across Sales, Engineering, Product, and G&A
- Lead strategic searches for high-impact leadership roles
- Lead and mentor a team of recruiters, helping them develop into high-performing talent partners
- Establish clear metrics (e.g. funnel conversion, time-to-fill, offer acceptance, quality of hire) and use data to drive accountability and performance
- Continuously improve process, tools, and candidate experience using data and feedback
- Build scalable sourcing strategies across referrals, outbound, inbound, and agency channels
- Develop and execute employer brand initiatives that amplify our story and attract exceptional candidates
- Champion a high-touch, candidate-first experience at every stage of the funnel
- Serve as a trusted partner to senior leaders, helping them scope roles, build hiring plans, and maintain a high talent bar
- Communicate regularly with executive stakeholders to ensure tight alignment between recruiting and business goals
- Act as the strategic link between Recruiting, People, and Finance
đ€ Who youâll work with
- This role reports to the VP of People, partners closely with senior executives, and collaborates across all departments.
â What weâre looking for
- Experience: 8+ years of recruiting experience, including 3+ years leading the talent function at a high-growth startup
- Stage Fit: Proven success scaling a recruiting function from Series B/C through late-stage growth
- Track Record: Experience hiring exceptional talent across multiple functions, including Engineering and Go-To-Market, with a strong network and familiarity with top-tier talent
- Tools & Infrastructure: Deep familiarity with recruiting systems (e.g. Lever, Greenhouse, Ashby, Gem, Metaview) and how to use them to drive efficiency and performance
- Leadership: Proven ability to lead, mentor, and inspire a recruiting team to exceed goals while maintaining an excellent candidate experience
- Analytical Mindset: Data-driven operator who can use metrics and observation to continuously improve process and outcomes, and has a passion for and track record of driving performance improvement across every part of the funnel.
- Communication: Persuasive communicator who builds trust with executives and inspires confidence in candidates
- Bias for Action: Startup-savvy and decisive - thrives in ambiguity, moves fast, and takes ownership
đ Pay and benefits
- The estimated base salary range for this role is $250-280K, plus a generous equity package
- Other benefits include comprehensive health coverage, remote-first workplace, unlimited PTO - plus extra fun perks!
