Job Summary
We are seeking a highly experienced Technical Writer and Operational Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support strategic documentation and technical development efforts related to evolving U.S. Marine Corps Command and Control (C2) systems. The role focuses on articulating and analyzing capabilities aligned to modernization initiatives replacing legacy platforms such as GCCS-TCO and JBC-P, with a focus on integration with next-generation technologies like Mission Command Transport (MMC-T).
This position requires deep operational understanding of Marine Air-Ground Task Force (MAGTF) operations and Combat Operations Center (COC) functions, with emphasis on the Pacific theater and multi-domain warfighting approaches.
Due to the nature of our work as a federal consulting organization, employees may be expected to handle Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) and must adhere to applicable safeguarding and compliance requirements. Additionally, all team members may be called upon to support proposal efforts as needed. This could include resume formatting, providing skills alignment summaries, participating in meetings, or contributing to solutioning activities based on subject matter expertise or functional experience.
Responsibilities
- Draft and refine technical documentation outlining C2 functions, operational workflows, and modernization strategies.
- Provide subject matter expertise on MAGTF command and control operations, joint force integration, and regional campaign planning.
- Collaborate with internal teams to produce accurate and impactful technical narratives.
- Analyze and translate complex operational experience into clearly written content for use in internal and client-facing deliverables.
- Advise on A2AD strategies, fires integration, posture initiatives, and exercise design concepts.
· Former USMC O-5/O-6 (or equivalent senior-level military experience) with recent operational background, preferably in the Pacific (e.g., 3rd MEF, MARFORPAC, MARFORJAPAN, or MARFORLANT).
· Experience supporting or operating within a MAGTF Combat Operations Center, particularly within the last two years.
· Strong technical writing and communication skills, with an ability to write for both technical and non-technical audiences.
· Demonstrated understanding of modern Marine Corps C2 systems and joint operational planning.
· Familiarity with current force posture efforts and the evolving role of multi-domain operations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience developing training materials, white papers, or exercise documentation for military audiences.
- Involvement in campaign planning, fires coordination, or operational design in a joint or coalition setting.
- Previous experience as a 1099 or independent consultant supporting defense or military initiatives.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
This is a remote/work-from-home position. The employee is expected to maintain a professional and distraction-free home office environment with reliable internet access and the ability to participate in video and audio calls during standard working hours. Standard office equipment such as a computer, phone, and webcam will be used regularly.
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this job:
- Prolonged periods of sitting and working on a computer.
- Frequent use of hands and fingers to operate computer and telephone equipment.

- Ability to participate in virtual meetings and communicate clearly via video/audio platforms.
Travel Requirement
This is a remote position; however, occasional travel may be required based on project needs, client meetings, team collaboration events, or training sessions. Travel is expected to be less than 10% and will be communicated in advance whenever possible.
