As the Senior Food Safety Specialist, you will play a key role in supporting food safety systems and compliance for meal kits and ready-to-eat (RTE) products. Reporting to the Manager, Food Safety Systems & Compliance, you will coordinate the development and maintenance of food safety programs, manage documentation, and ensure regulatory compliance across operations. Working closely with cross-functional teams, you will also lead audit support, crisis preparedness, and food safety culture initiatives to ensure that our products meet the highest standards of safety and quality.

- Internal Auditing: Lead and execute the internal audit schedule for all facilities, ensuring compliance with food safety standards (e.g., BRCGS, HACCP) and regulatory requirements. Identify non-conformances and lead the follow-up for corrective actions.
- Labeling & Regulatory Support: Assist with labeling compliance for new products, ingredients, and processes, providing support for both Canadian and US teams as needed.
- Systems Maintenance: Manage and maintain food safety documentation systems, ensuring proper change control and the upkeep of relevant knowledge management platforms.
- Verification Activities: Support site-level verification activities, including the review of records and data to ensure compliance with food safety programs.
- Imports: Ensure CFIA permits and licenses are obtained, manage quota applications, and review banned ingredients for imports.
- Food Safety Culture: Coordinate safety & quality culture surveys, lead Food Safety Week activities, and update the FS Culture Calendar and FSQA communications.
- Crisis Preparedness: Lead mock recall exercises, traceability tests, and other crisis preparedness activities.

Sound a-peeling? Here’s what we’re looking for
- 3+ years of experience in food safety or quality assurance, with a strong focus on internal auditing.
- Post-secondary education in Food Science, Biological Science, or a related discipline.
- Completion of Internal or Lead Auditor training with recognized certification (BRCGS, SQF, GFSI, or equivalent) is highly preferred.
- Strong understanding of food safety programs, HACCP principles, and regulatory requirements, including labeling.
- Knowledge of supplier management and SKU database systems is an asset.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including international partners.
- Proactive and independent mindset, comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to travel domestically as per business requirements (approximately 25-30%).
