We are seeking a Business Development Director l to join Red Clay Consulting, with strong Utility industry consulting and system integrator/implementation experience, specifically in the area of Customer Information Systems (CIS), Meter Data Management (MDM), Asset Management, and Mobile Workforce Management systems, and Advisory Services.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Research new prospects, new contacts, and map/segment the marketplace; and manage and grow contacts.
  • Contribute to the growth and development of Red Clay through participation in each stage in the sales cycle, from relationship building, through proposal development and delivery.
  • Understand utility client’s meter-to-cash cycle and customer service improvement business needs and help develop detailed proposals to address those needs.
  • Understand utility asset management and mobile workforce management business and and help develop detailed proposals to address those needs.
  • Identify and support the pursuit of new customers and prospects within electric, water, and gas utilities.
  • Contribute to business development process as an emerging technologies subject matter expert.
  • Create scopes, pricing estimates, and risk assessments for prospects.
  • Actively build a professional network with the utility community.
  • Attend industry conferences across the country to introduce Red Clay to new prospects and understand the latest industry trends
  • Lead personal, networked-based sales pursuits
  • Significant generation of weekly prospecting/networking activities (events, meetings, phone calls, emails) in the pursuit of new client acquisition and brand awareness
  • Provide leadership around the sales pursuit process and proposal delivery teams
  • Identify and develop unique, industry-specific alliance partners that can drive leads to Red Clay

Skills And Core Capabilities:

  • Conversant in Oracle Utilities C2M and other meter-to-cash cycle applications and deployment options.
  • Conversant in Oracle Utilities WACS and OFS applications and deployment options.
  • Proven track record in managing multiple opportunities and ability to negotiate and close complex deals.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Management Information Systems, Business, or other relevant areas required
  • Ability to Travel Monday - Thursday (weekly) up to 80%
  • 6- 12 years of work experience with minimum five years of professional services consulting experience
  • Prefer six years of work experience within the utilities industry
  • Deep experience with Customer Information Systems (CIS), Asset Management, Advisory
  • Proven ability to effectively network and communicate with different types and levels of staff and external contacts, both in writing and verbally. Ability to build trust broadly across the organization and with partners, and to manage interactions and influence without authority, including at the c-level.
