Duties & Responsibilities:
- Create structural engineering plans, details, and calculations for renewable energy and substation projects.
- Design concrete or steel foundations for project equipment to meet jurisdictional requirements at local, State and Federal levels for various geotechnical parameters and soil types, working under the direction of more senior staff.
- Perform design tasks on small projects or portions of larger projects.
- Acquire knowledge of renewable energy system layouts and components such as modules, racking, inverters, and Balance of Systems (BOS).
- Apply standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to perform assigned tasks as part of a broader assignment.
- Ensure compliance with company, industry, trade, and jurisdictional safety standards, practices, codes.
- Receives close supervision on all aspects of assignments.
- Receives a thorough review of completed work for application of sound professional judgment.
- Perform essential duties including meeting deliverables and deadlines.
- Perform additional duties as assigned or directed.
Experience, Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Bachelor’s degree in civil or structural engineering required.
- EIT Certificate is preferred.
- Ability to read and understand site studies and geotechnical reports.
- 6 months or greater experience (including academic and internship experience) performing structural or civil designing and drafting is preferred.
- Knowledge of structural engineering design software tools is desirable.
- Prior renewable energy project experience is desirable.
- Ability to identify and solve complex problems.
- Verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to be both creative and analytical.
- Detail-oriented and accurate.
- Efficient time management – handle multiple projects simultaneously and with minimal supervision, including prioritizing, organizing, and planning effectively to meet all deadlines.
