As a member of Sprout’s Marketing department, you’re an integral part of empowering and inspiring our customers and driving the growth of our business. As a true partner to Sales and Success, we are accountable to—and responsible for—driving significant revenue across new business acquisition and customer growth. We put our customers at the center, we’re driven by results and passionate about our impact on the overall strength and health of Sprout. As individuals, there’s no shortage of opportunities to learn and grow in your current role and beyond. Here, we just really want you to do your best work, be creative, take risks and make mistakes. You create your own path.
What you’ll do
We’re looking for a bold, visionary Director of Social Media to lead our global social media strategy across platforms including LinkedIn, TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, Reddit, and X (formerly Twitter). This role is not just about content—it’s about shaping industry conversations, elevating customer experiences, and setting the gold standard for enterprise social leadership.
In this role, you won’t just run social—you’ll redefine it for the industry. You’ll be part strategist, part creator, part evangelist, and part futurist. You’ll drive conversations that matter around social ROI, AI, marketing technology, creators, and more. You’ll influence products that shape the industry, and help our customers become heroes inside their own organizations.
What you’ll bring
Social Media Leadership & Strategy
- Lead a global social media function, including channel strategy, planning, content creation, publishing, and performance reporting across LinkedIn, TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, Reddit, and X.
- Set a clear and differentiated social vision aligned with business goals, emerging platform trends, and audience behaviors.
- Craft strategic narratives that break through noise and connect with enterprise audiences at scale.
- Elevate our brand presence with purpose-driven, culturally relevant content that resonates with executives, practitioners, and creators alike.
Thought Leadership & Influence
- Represent the brand as a respected voice in the industry—on stage, online, and in strategic conversations with C-suite customers.
- Publish and amplify POVs that shape the future of social, content, and marketing more broadly.
- Serve as a presence on high-profile client calls, inspiring brands with practical insight and bold ideas.
Enterprise Expertise & Customer Impact
- Bring firsthand experience managing complex, enterprise-scale social programs—with the ability to translate that into actionable guidance for our customers.
- Guide our customer community with frameworks, storytelling, and examples that elevate their programs and demonstrate social’s impact on business outcomes.
- Partner with Customer Success, Sales, and Marketing to make social a cornerstone of customer engagement.
Strategic Partner to Product
- Work closely with our Product and Innovation teams to translate customer needs and market shifts into product feedback, roadmap input, and new feature ideas.
- Advocate on behalf of customers and creators, ensuring social functionality and workflows meet real-world enterprise challenges.
- Be the voice our product team relies on before they ship—your opinion will carry weight across the roadmap.
The minimum qualifications for this role include:
- 10+ years in social media and/or a combination of social media and brand marketing, with at least 3+ in a leadership role at an enterprise or high-growth brand.
- Fluent in the strengths, quirks, and formats of each social platform, know how to adapt messaging accordingly, and are deeply familiar with Sprout and/or other social media management platforms and marketing attribution/measurement tools like Salesforce, HubSpot, and Marketo Measure.
- Expert understanding of content creation tools (eg. CapCut, Final Cut Pro, Canva, DaVinci Resolve Studio) and know what good organic social content looks like and how to create it. You also have a strong command of paid promotion and influencer engagement strategies.
Preferred qualifications for this role include:
- Big-brand fluency: You’ve led social for Fortune 500s, beloved consumer brands, or category-defining B2B companies.
- Have worked closely with creators and influencers to scale social media programs.
- On-camera confidence or public speaking experience.
How you’ll grow
Within 1 month, you’ll plant your roots, including:
- Building relationships across the Marketing, Product, Customer Success, and Sales teams to understand cross-functional priorities and audiences.
- Auditing current social strategies, content, and performance to identify quick wins and opportunities.
- Establishing a clear vision for your social leadership—including voice, tone, content themes, and audience focus.
Within 3 months, you’ll start hitting your stride by:
- Launching a refreshed, integrated multi-platform social program that reflects the brand’s authority, creativity, and enterprise positioning.
- Representing the company externally through thought leadership content, industry conversations, and events.
- Advising top customers with strategic guidance that demonstrates our platform’s value and your deep expertise.
Within 6 months, you’ll be making a clear impact through:
- Driving measurable growth in brand visibility, audience engagement, and executive reach on key platforms like LinkedIn and TikTok.
- Influencing product and content roadmaps based on social signals, customer needs, and emerging trends.
- Becoming a go-to strategic partner for internal teams and external stakeholders seeking social expertise.
Within 12 months, you’ll make this role your own by:
- Setting the standard for what enterprise social leadership looks like in our category—and being recognized as such.
- Establishing scalable frameworks and playbooks that elevate how our customers approach social media across industries.
- Playing a pivotal role in shaping both company reputation and customer outcomes through the power of social.
Of course what is outlined above is the ideal timeline, but things may shift based on business needs and other projects and tasks could be added at the discretion of your manager. If you’re ready to take the lead in shaping how enterprise brands approach social—this is your moment.
