About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented FIAR Manager to lead financial improvement and audit readiness initiatives across our organization. This role is critical to ensuring compliance with financial management regulations, improving financial reporting processes, and driving audit readiness activities in support of agency objectives.
As the FIAR Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing internal control assessments, identifying financial reporting weaknesses, and implementing corrective action plans. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams and external auditors to ensure the organization’s financial processes meet audit requirements and federal financial management standards. This position is remote 3 days per week and requires an active Public Trust or have previously held one.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the planning, execution, and reporting of FIAR initiatives aligned with OMB Circular A-123 and other applicable guidance.
- Perform risk assessments and internal control evaluations to identify process weaknesses and areas of non-compliance.
- Develop and implement remediation plans for audit findings and internal control deficiencies.
- Coordinate with finance, IT, and operational teams to improve financial reporting processes and data accuracy.
- Prepare and review documentation to support audit trails, including process narratives, flowcharts, and control matrices.
- Serve as a primary point of contact during internal and external audits; facilitate audit walkthroughs, evidence requests, and auditor inquiries.
- Monitor the progress of corrective action plans and provide regular status updates to leadership.
- Provide guidance and training to internal teams on audit readiness and financial compliance standards.
- Keep current with changes in federal financial management regulations, accounting standards, and audit best practices.
$90,000 - $110,000 a year
