We’re looking for an experienced GameMaker Developer with a strong background in console porting to join our international team. The ideal candidate will have solid professional experience using GameMaker in a production environment, with a focus on adapting and optimizing games for console platforms. In this role, you’ll be responsible for front-end gameplay development, including design implementation, coding, testing, and debugging, while also contributing to task estimation and the creation of technical documentation to support the development process.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Work on different projects for different platforms including mobile, PC and console.

  • Work on projects from scratch, potentially ongoing projects and porting.

  • Fix bugs, prepare documentation.

  • Interact and communicate with everyone in the team, eventually even clients.

  • 2+ years of experience as a GameMaker Developer.

  • A passion for video games.

  • Strong expertise in GameMaker, with hands-on experience porting GameMaker games from PC to console (preferably Nintendo Switch).

  • Proven ability to optimize memory, assets, and framerate, and resolve performance bottlenecks.

  • Solid understanding of controller support, UI adaptation for consoles and certification processes.

  • Experience with the GameMaker console build pipeline, including SDK integration and packaging for submission.

  • Able to independently drive features by collaborating with cross-functional teams as needed.

  • Excellent debugging, reporting, and documentation skills.

  • Flexible and quick to adapt to new tools and technologies as required by the project.

DESIRABLE PLUSES:

  • Familiarity with GameMaker (v2.x or GMS2+), and common extensions like Scribble, outsideTheBox, and post-processing shaders.

  • Involved in the development of at least one large game title from A-Z.

  • Experience with mobile and WebGL games.

  • Solid technical foundation (e.g. Computer Science / Maths Degree or equivalent).
