Work Summary
We are seeking linguists to support the development of a lexicon in accordance with strict formatting requirements and detailed guidelines. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong listening and writing skills, idiomatic fluency in English Singapore, and exceptional attention to detail. The role requires the ability to multitask and accurately generate phonetic transcriptions for English Singapore using the IPA or SAMPA phonetic alphabets.
Work Responsibilities
Create phonetic transcriptions using the IPA or SAMPA phonetic alphabet for English (Singapore)
Create phonetic transcriptions for a wordlist provided by us
Put together the lexicon with a close set of phonemes
Requirements
Idiomatic fluency in English (Singapore) is required since you will create phonetic transcriptions specific to English (Singapore)
Postgraduate degree in linguistics with a specialization in phonetics
Experience using the IPA and SAMPA phonetic alphabets
Prior experience with linguistic data, especially phonetic data
Strong attention to detail with the ability to turn around deliverables on a tight schedule
