This position is fully remote and available for applicants living in countries in Central America and Mexico, including Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Costa Rica, and Panama.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Payroll Specialist will directly report to the Payroll Manager and is going to be responsible for ensuring timely, accurate, and proper execution of payroll operations, payroll tax support and other payroll activities as needed. The Payroll Specialist will be the subject matter expert in payroll processing, taxation and responsible for compliance with Federal, State and Local tax regulatory requirements in LATAM with expectation to learn North America. They will assist the Payroll Manager in implementing process improvement and projects with a clear focus on streamlining workflows and scalability.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Complete all LATAM payroll cycles for Brazil and Mexico including transactions in an accurate and timely manner to produce semi-monthly and monthly payrolls and any off cycle pay runs as needed.
  • Review and audit computed wages and deductions, data imported from time and attendance systems, commission and bonus payments.
  • Process annual tax reports, taxable fringe benefit input, pension compliance and adjustment payroll runs.
  • Review and audit stock runs and ensure all activity is submitted in a timely manner.
  • Process adjustments to taxes and/or wages, and works with tax vendor to amend previously filed payroll tax returns based on those adjustments.
  • Support and educate employees on payroll related questions.
  • Process timely AP requests and returns for any payroll payments.
  • Liaise with outside agencies regarding non-standard garnishments and maintain all information pertaining to garnishments.
  • Maintain well-documented and organized payroll records.
  • Continuously look for improvements in operational processes and designs and implement those initiatives.
  • Individual is expected to learn US & Canada payroll after four months of service.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Associate degree required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • CPP/FPC certification a plus.
  • Minimum 3 years of direct payroll processing and tax experience required.
  • Familiarity with various legal regulations governing payroll activities.
  • Experience using payroll systems such as ADP or Workday, Paylocity is preferred.
  • Experience as a results-oriented professional with a strong sense of urgency and attention to detail
  • Highly proficient in MS Excel(VLOOKUP’s, Pivot tables, IF statements) and MS Word.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and analytical mindset with good judgement.
  • Ability to prioritize workload, multi-task, meet all deadlines, and work well under pressure.
  • Strong customer service, written and verbal communication skills; appropriately communicates with all levels of customers within the organization.
  • Excellent organization skills: ability to handle multiple priorities within deadlines is required.
  • Fully fluent in English
