Foth is currently seeking a Project Civil Engineer to lead our Alabama Municipal or Transportation team, and work alongside our Alabama Aviation group. We are seeking an individual who is looking for new learning experiences, opportunities for career growth, and a desire to contribute to our clients’ success. In this role you will have the opportunity to mentor our junior staff, engage with clients, establish Foth relationships in the Southeast. This role is temporarily remote. Birmingham or Huntsville Alabama location anticipated based on market opportunities.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Lead technical engineering, quality assurance/control, and municipal engineering project activities. Independently complete projects focused on the design of roadways, underground utilities, site grading and drainage, and facilities.
  • Develop and maintain client relationships.
  • Deliver projects within budget, schedule, and contractual commitments.
  • Negotiate change orders to the scope of work with the client and subcontractors.
  • Work closely with relevant permitting agencies.
  • Develop technical reports, feasibility studies, and engineering designs.
  • Lead, coordinate, and build teamwork among other members in all necessary disciplines.
  • Establish objectives and provide performance feedback for project team members.
  • Adapt to work with other Foth infrastructure teams between local marketing efforts.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.
  • Professional Engineer license in Alabama and ability to obtain license in other states with 12 months via NCEES.
  • Minimum of five (5) years demonstrated experience in the engineering consulting industry with senior engineering design responsibilities directly related to municipal or roadway design.
  • Demonstrate technical design ability to construct project models, plans, estimates, specifications, and bidding documents (MicroStation ORD and/or Autodesk C3D).
  • Demonstrate experience in project management or managing a team of design engineers.
  • Demonstrate ability to acquire client leads and establish contracts for work.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Combination of 8+ years of experience in public improvements projects (i.e. roadway, municipal, utilities, traffic control, facilities, and/or construction).
  • Experience in management of design teams including development of scope of work, project schedules and management of project budgets.
  • Experience working with clients to attain grant funding for improvement projects.

$90,000 - $130,000 a year

The base compensation listed for this job posting reflects a general range for the posted position.  Base compensation will vary based on factors such as: years of experience, location, level of responsibility and licenses/certifications. In addition to base compensation, Foth members may be eligible to receive bonuses through our Earned Performance Incentive program.
