Job description

Join Atomi: Innovate, empower and inspire in the Edtech world.

Our mission is to help unlock the world’s potential by optimising the way we teach and learn. With a unique blend of technology and creativity, we bring learning to life, making complex concepts simple and accessible to students, educators, and parents alike.

We’re a team driven by our core values: a deep-rooted passion for learning, a relentless pursuit of quality at speed, humility in our growth, a commitment to pushing boundaries, empowering others fearlessly and championing the needs of our customers. Our culture is built on these values, ensuring we stay agile, innovative and empathetic to the evolving needs of the education community.

At Atomi, you’ll be encouraged to think creatively, work collaboratively and contribute to a mission where every piece of work is a step towards realising our collective potential in classrooms and beyond.

The opportunity

We’re looking for a Staff Frontend Engineer who can help us build better tools for teachers and students. At Atomi, we’re trying to improve how people teach and learn, and we need someone who can drive solutions that actually solve problems for our users. In this role, you’ll work with a passionate team to create experiences that make learning engaging and teaching more effective, while growing as a technical leader within our Engineering team.

We’re after an engineer who writes solid code but also understands that technical decisions have real impacts on teachers and students. Our frontend architecture is evolving, and you’ll help shape where it goes next. You’ll work on our design system and guide other engineers, but most importantly, you’ll build stuff that makes a difference in classrooms.

This is a fully remote position, allowing you to work from anywhere in Australia. Our headquarters is located in Ultimo, Sydney, and you’re welcome to work there whenever you’d like.

What You’ll Do

  • Build teaching tools that make lesson planning and classroom management easier while creating learning experiences that enhance the way students engage with educational content
  • Continue to develop and improve upon our Design System. Build reusable, modular components while collaborating with the design team to ensure continual evolution of the system.
  • Manage complex frontend state and integrate with backend services effectively while championing best practices including: performance, optimisation, testing, & accessibility.
  • Lead technical initiatives for frontend architecture and contribute to our technical roadmap.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior members of the team, elevating their technical skills

What You’ll Bring to Atomi

  • Previous experience working in a senior/staff/principal frontend engineer position, ideally for a scaling B2B SaaS organisation
  • Strong expertise in modern frontend technologies, frameworks and languages including: React, Next.js, and Typescript
  • A history of developing and maintaining a design system that meets the needs of the entire product development team
  • Understanding of state management approaches for frontend applications
  • Expertise in integrating frontend applications with backend services and APIs
  • Knowledge of frontend performance optimisation and accesibility standards

How to apply

We’d like to understand who you are, your values and your professional journey. Please apply with your resume, a link to your portfolio and any insights you’d like to share.

We embrace diversity. Bringing together a variety of thoughts, backgrounds, and expressions is key to creating outstanding products and teams.
