Based in Sturgeon County, Alberta, Guardian provides direct chemical, equipment, and specialized service technologists to a large variety of primary and secondary industries throughout Canada, the USA, and internationally.  Guardian currently has three main divisions: industrial, water treatment, and wood products.

Purpose

The Water Quality Technologist is the primary service provider to ensure that Guardian treatment programs perform at the least cost operating scenario within customer sites. The Water Quality Technician works closely with Account Managers, Business Development Representatives, and the Water Treatment Technical Director to maintain a high level of customer satisfaction through achieving a high-performance standard.

What you will do

  • Visit client sites to conduct water quality testing on Boiler, Cooling Tower, and Closed systems.
  • Write Technical Service Reports for clients which document successful application of chemical treatment programs within the DATAGUARD software application.
  • Achieve target water quality through adjustment of chemical dosages and optimization of water treatment equipment including programmable controllers, probes, meters, and chemical pumping systems.
  • Assist in account management through ensuring inventories are maintained at proper levels and that all preventive maintenance is performed on equipment to ensure reliable operation and optimum performance.
  • Communicate with customers to ensure that the treatment program is a strong collaborative effort where Guardian oversight assures success.
  • Work safely and with minimal supervision in all aspects of the role including vehicle travel to various sites.
  • Ensure all hazard assessments are completed when necessary and provide training for customers on safe handling and procedures related to chemicals.
  • Support the sales team through participation in new account set up and in training and mentoring new staff members.
  • Support the Mission, Vision and Core Values of Guardian through your proactive nature and positive attitude.
  • Comply with and support our Quality and Environmental Health and Safety Policies and Procedures.
  • Continuously learn through extensive training and hands on experiences to become a heating, cooling, and HVAC water treatment specialist.

What you will bring

  • Positive attitude with the ability to connect and communicate with a diverse range of client contacts.

  • A strong mechanical aptitude and the desire to be in a hands-on role.

  • Excellent organizational, planning, problem solving, decision making and time management skills.

  • Physical capability to manage stairs, ladders, and some moderate lifting (up to 50lbs).

  • Excellent computer skills that include the use of MS Office Suite of products.

  • Previous experience working with customers in an unrelated industry.

  • Post-secondary education in Science or Engineering is considered an asset.

  • Post-secondary experience with boilers, cooling towers, chillers or other mechanical systems is considered an asset.
