Job Description
The Director Food Safety & Quality Assurance plays a crucial role in the business by being accountable for the continuous development and implementation of the Food Safety & Quality Assurance strategy at HelloFresh ANZ.
From ensuring that our products and suppliers meet the company’s stringent requirements, to our warehouses and logistics partners operating in line with food safety, legality and quality guardrails - and everything in-between.
This role covers the full scope of activities as detailed with the BRCGS Standard for Storage & Distribution for Australia, and relevant sections that cross over into New Zealand compliance.
The Director of Food Safety & Quality Assurance will also closely collaborate with our International FSQA team, driving synergies in risk mitigation and best practice sharing across the HelloFresh Group.
This role reports directly into the VP - Upstream Supply Chain.
You will…
Stakeholder Engagement
- Ensure all FSQA requirements are fully understood, executed, and implemented in all parts of our operation - this includes multiple DCs in AU and a supplier landscape across multiple geographies.
- Support BAU operations, innovation and new product development by proactively partnering with Product, Operations, and Marketing teams to ensure food safety and quality standards are integrated from concept to commercialization.
- Proactively manage supply compliance and performance in collaboration with the Procurement Team, via robust onboarding, auditing, ongoing monitoring and analysis.
- Evaluate, communicate on and ensure ongoing effectiveness of quality and food safety programs, utilising data analytics to justify change and projects.
- Build strategic relationships with industry stakeholders & authorities, representing the company when required.
- Work closely with the International Food Safety and Quality Leads to align and implement local policies in line with our international FSQA strategy, making regionally appropriate adjustments in line with ANZ strategy, as required.
- Build strong relationships with senior key stakeholders inside and outside of our Operations Team in ANZ, and our Global Headquarters (Berlin)
Compliance
- Implement corrective and preventative actions arising from internal audits / customer complaints / root cause analysis or other internal / external processes.
- Ensure all production facilities are audit ready, maintaining the highest BRCGS certifications and HelloFresh compliance audit scores - driving standards and standardisation of processes throughout our operations.
- Manage and implement ethical compliance against global HelloFresh and SEDEX requirements throughout the supply chain, ensuring brand risk is fully managed.
- Keep up to date with legislation and industry practices ensuring HelloFresh incorporates industry leading thinking into our systems and processes.
Team support & Mentorship
- Lead, manage and develop a motivated and dynamic team of FSQA professionals located across multiple geographies, delivering all business targets and legislative requirements.
- Scope roles, recruit and hire according to business needs.
- Use expertise to coach, train & develop others according to individual needs, in line with HF strategy.
Other
- Develop, realign and deploy our food safety and quality assurance policies to reflect rapid current and upcoming increase in complexity – driving risk mitigation and enhanced quality.
- Elevate, drive and embed a food safety and quality culture throughout all teams.
You are/have…
- Excellent experience from a strategic level with the ability to drive and implement change
- Internal and external audit experience
- Significant knowledge of Australian government regulations
- In-depth knowledge of food safety systems, HACCP
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Able to influence and drive strategy with senior management across organisations across multiple departments
- Excellent organisational and time management skills
- Adept at data manipulation and analytics
- Energy, enthusiasm, commitment and a can-do flexible attitude
Education
- Graduate degree in relevant domain (essential)
- Proven experience of 7+ years in food safety, ideally with both manufacturing and retail experience
Training
- HACCP qualification (essential)
- Auditor qualification (essential)
