Location: Remote with expected work hours to be a set schedule between 7am - 7pm Central

Daily Responsibilities:

  • Partner with software development team as a strategic advisor in the development of a CDI platform
  • Key contributor to the development of CDI performance metrics tracking tools
  • Review inpatient and/or outpatient medical records to ensure accurate and complete documentation of diagnoses, treatments, and procedures
  • Collaborate with client physicians, nurses, and other clinicians to clarify documentation for coding accuracy and specificity
  • Identify opportunities for improvement in documentation that impact DRG assignment, severity of illness (SOI), risk of mortality (ROM), quality metrics, and case mix index (CMI)
  • Partner with coding teams to resolve discrepancies and ensure compliance with coding and regulatory guidelines
  • Educate providers on documentation best practices and evolving regulatory requirements
  • Track, analyze, and report CDI performance metrics to leadership

Skills and Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant experience
    • Master’s degree in Health Information Management preferred
  • CCDS certification
  • 2+ years of CDI, clinical, or coding experience in an acute care setting
  • Experience with Epic systems preferred
  • High knowledge and experience with various CDI software tools
  • Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM/PCS, DRG methodology, and coding compliance standards
  • Knowledge of CMS, The Joint Commission, and other regulatory standards impacting documentation and reimbursement preferred
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with clinical and non-clinical stakeholders
  • CDI Solution owner or contributor to CDI software development preferred
  • CDI Program development preferred
