The MongoDB Global Communications team is looking for a public relations professional with experience managing global proactive PR programs for leading software businesses in the technology market, including PR planning, strategy, and execution. This role is pivotal in positioning MongoDB as the premier platform for developers and a leader in building modern AI applications. The right candidate has a successful track record leading a nimble in-house team and working with PR agencies to deliver high-impact results that generate awareness for the business, including placing thought leadership and innovative technology stories with top online, print, and broadcast media. This person will have a strong background in tech PR, exceptional communication and writing skills, and a deep understanding of the developer and AI landscapes.

The Public Relations Lead will report to the Senior Director of Global Communications and requires close collaboration with multiple teams internally including Social Media, Customer Marketing, Product Marketing, Field Marketing, Analyst Relations, APAC Communications, EMEA Communications, and Industry Solutions teams to deliver a measurable impact to the business, drive customer adoption of MongoDB products, and exceed corporate global awareness objectives.

We are looking to speak to candidates who are based in New York City, San Francisco, or Seattle for our hybrid working model. Occasional travel will be required.

Position Expectations

  • Grow awareness for MongoDB Atlas as the number-one developer data platform for building modern applications on any of the major clouds
  • Work collaboratively with teams across MongoDB to deliver campaigns that drive awareness through owned, earned, and social media content
  • Cultivate a core set of relationships with journalists across prioritized geographies to amplify and promote MongoDB’s vision for modern application development
  • Contribute to communications programs at virtual and physical events for MongoDB
  • Develop long-term strategies and tactics to amplify MongoDB content and work cross-functionally across Global Corporate Marketing to identify and execute on opportunities for proactive storytelling via earned, owned, and social media
  • Own end-to-end PR strategy for product launches, including developing compelling narrative, messaging, and all PR materials, as well as coordinating media outreach. Ensure maximum visibility and impact through strategic media placements and targeted communication plans, and proactive media outreach
  • Position MongoDB executives and subject matter experts as thought leaders in the industry through bylined articles, speaking engagements, and media interviews
  • Oversee the creation of press releases, media kits, bylined articles, and all PR materials. Ensure all content is engaging, accurate, and aligns with MongoDB’s brand voice
  • Think creatively to develop new and innovative ways to tell stories and engage developers across outreach channels

We’re looking for someone with …

  • 8-10 years of experience working in communications with experience in leading technology companies and/or high-growth SaaS, enterprise software, or cloud computing providers
  • Exceptional writing skills, including the ability to translate complex technical concepts into meaningful and compelling business communications
  • High judgment and standards with the ability to consistently deliver results
  • Ability to evangelize and educate internally and externally about complex technology concepts
  • Confidence in leadership who can collaborate with a diverse set of stakeholders and influence cross-functional teams
  • Experience monitoring public relations and social media trends, competitor activity, and industry news to identify opportunities and areas for improvement
  • Drive for networking and building relationships with the media
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-changing environment with shifting priorities as the tech landscape evolves
  • Experience in developing earnings announcements and a solid understanding of Investor Relations
  • Able to operate in environments with high ambiguity and strong interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of data-driven approaches to building and managing communications programs
  • Management experience and the ability to mentor a team of PR professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture
  • Proven track record of strategic planning, goal setting, and program execution

MongoDB’s base salary range for this role is posted below. Compensation at the time of offer is unique to each candidate and based on a variety of factors such as skill set, experience, qualifications, and work location. Salary is one part of MongoDB’s total compensation and benefits package. Other benefits for eligible employees may include: equity, participation in the employee stock purchase program, flexible paid time off, 20 weeks fully-paid gender-neutral parental leave, fertility and adoption assistance, 401(k) plan, mental health counseling, access to transgender-inclusive health insurance coverage, and health benefits offerings. Please note, the base salary range listed below and the benefits in this paragraph are only applicable to U.S.-based candidates.

$104,000—$204,000 USD
