The role

To support the Group Head of Tax in developing and underpinning Group Tax Strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and/or review statutory accounts provisions (including tax consolidation workings)
  • Review tax computations for companies where outsourced
  • Review CT600s and supporting calculations for HMRC submission
  • Preparation of annual and forecast tax figures for current, deferred and cash tax purposes
  • Calculation and management of the UK tax payment process
  • Reconciliation of tax accounts and completion of reporting entries where required
  • Preparation of formal correspondence for agreement with HMRC
  • Support towards the centralisation of the VAT reporting process
  • Support and manage the VAT return process. (Additional training may be provided if required).
  • Support on the enhancement and future maintenance of the tax control framework, to include SAO reporting, controls and processes and monitoring of the tax risk register
  • Co-ordinate with international teams for the purposes of collating local relevant tax information
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders and external advisors (auditors, consultants and HMRC) on Group tax matters and enquiries
  • Research, prepare and present technical papers on a range of tax technical positions
  • Provide tax support on certain employment tax matters
  • Provide tax guidance where appropriate on projects and transactions
  • Horizon scan for relevant legislation pertinent to the industry, size and/or geographical spread of the Group

Requirements

  • CTA and/or qualified accountant (ACA or ACCA)
  • 2 years+ post-qualifying experience
  • Experience with financial services preferred
  • Further tax training can be provided if required
  • Experience of working within ERP systems (NetSuite preferred) and Anaplan useful
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders (finance, legal, M&A, business pillars) and external advisors (auditors, consultants and HMRC) on Group tax matters and enquiries
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with non-tax proficient stakeholders
  • Confident to lead and advance conversation with the business
  • High attention to detail is vital as is good numerical skills and accuracy
  • Strong self-management and motivational skills to learn and deliver on key responsibilities
  • Time management and organisational skills
  • Ability to prioritise tasks and work effectively across different teams
  • Willingness to challenge, innovate and drive improvements as the company grows
