Job Description

To support Version 1’s software asset management consulting team by providing data analysis, license tracking, and cost optimisation activities. This role is ideal for someone with some experience in data management and SAM principles, looking to develop expertise in SAM processes without necessarily having prior consulting experience.

Key Responsibilities

Data Management & Analysis

  • Collect, cleanse, and maintain accurate software inventory and license data.
  • Maintain and configure the SAM platform (e.g., ServiceNow SAM Pro).
  • Assist in preparing reports and dashboards for appropriate SAM metrics.
  • Support the tracking of software entitlements and deployments.
  • Help identify compliance risks and escalate issues to senior SAM team members.
  • Ensure software catalogues, approved lists, and policies remain current and controlled
  • Review software requests for licensing impact and policy alignment.
  • Oversee uninstall/cleanup activity for unused, non-compliant, or high-risk software.
  • Follow established SAM processes and workflows.
  • Support the team of license consultants to interpret data and create reports.

Qualifications

Skills & Competencies

Technical Skills

  • Basic understanding of software licensing principles.
  • Proficiency in Excel and data analysis tools.
  • Familiarity in navigating IT systems and Asset Management platforms.

Analytical Skills

  • Ability to interpret data and identify trends.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

Experience

  • 1+ years of Experience in, IT or Asset Management support role, SAM experience/knowledge is preferred.
  • Previous experience in data analysis.
  • Prior consulting experience is not required.

Career Development

This role offers a pathway to progress within the SAM practice, building core operational skills, gaining hands on experience with SAM tools, and working closely with experienced consultants. Expect opportunities to work closely with and support other consultants across further topics in SAM.

Commercial Awareness

  • Support consultants with the development of SAM documentation, reports and general internal updates.
  • Assist with organising information for sales or account teams for new opportunities.
  • Identify and promote cross-sell and up-sell opportunities across Version 1 services.

Project Coordination

  • Support timely delivery of SAM projects within agreed scope and expectations.
  • Assist with tracking project risks or issues and escalating when required.
  • Contribute to the preparation and presentation of clear, actionable findings reports.
