Job Description

What’s Marketing at Wellmark? Marketing encompasses every part of strategic work to acquire and retain members and clients for Wellmark’s health plan products and services. It includes brand management, value proposition development, performance marketing campaigns, digital and content marketing, sponsorship activations and operations management aligned to driving measurable business outcomes.

What projects might I support? As a rotation program, you’ll receive exposure to Wellmark’s diverse marketing activities and have an opportunity for exposure to all aspects of marketing. This position will have the opportunity to interact across teams within Wellmark Marketing, primarily supporting planning and execution of marketing campaigns. You’ll work on projects that will give you experience in marketing strategy and execution, ranging from updating marketing collateral to learning how to leverage marketing technology to manage and deliver marketing tactics. You’ll work with individuals on the digital, analytics and operations teams on analysis efforts or other projects. Depending on your skills, you also may collaborate with the creative team to develop content.

Some examples of the work you may be responsible for during your internship:

  • Assessing marketing collateral and promotional materials we make available to agents and employers and developing improvement recommendations.
  • Coordinating annual updates to member enrollment materials.
  • Planning and executing sponsorship activations.
  • Assisting in data analysis of marketing campaigns .
  • Usage of marketing technology to develop and deliver marketing tactics
  • Researching competitor marketing programs and evaluating Wellmark program performance.
  • Developing strategies to increase use of plan benefits or health programs.
  • Researching and writing proposals for department investments and improvements.

This internship will start as a part-time position in April 2026 then transition into our 2026 Summer Internship Program in May working a hybrid schedule from our corporate office in Des Moines, Iowa.

Qualifications

  • Current junior or senior pursuing a bachelor’s degree in marketing or related business program.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to take initiative, prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to use data to inform decisions and make recommendations.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to learn technology tools and systems to track, manage, develop and deploy work
  • Available to work 10-20 hours/week during the academic year, either hybrid or fully remote
  • Available to work 40 hours/week during the summer; required in-office days of Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, with additional days in office pending role requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Preferred: knowledge or experience in Adobe marketing platforms and Adobe creative cloud
