Job Description
What’s Well-Being at Wellmark? The Wellmark Well-being Team works directly with our large group customers to understand their organizational goals, their employee health data and other relevant factors to consult with them on their workplace well-being strategy and initiatives. Whether a company is starting from scratch or building on existing programs, the Well-being team helps ensure strategies are practical, aligned with goals and designed to support all areas of well-being. As a Well-Being Intern, you will be responsible for supporting the team with the development and delivery of group strategy that includes goals and objectives, program initiatives, incentive design, communications, and budget.
What projects might I support? Although subject to change, examples of projects you will be contributing to include:
- Build core knowledge and understanding of the health insurance and well-being industry, emerging trends, and Wellmark’s products, services and commitment to our members.
- Attend in-person and virtual client meetings, capturing notes, next steps and opportunities for the team.
- Establish relationships with different stakeholders across various divisions at Wellmark; including but not limited to Business Development and Client Solutions (BDCS) to understand their responsibilities and how the Well-being team supports them.
- Gain valuable experience in day-to-day account management and managing client relationships.
- Support the Well-being Consultants with development of a variety of tasks, including (but not limited to) research, development of client strategy, presentations, agendas for client meetings and more.
- Apply and expand knowledge on population health, well-being and employee engagement data to evaluate the impact Wellmark solutions and standardize the evaluation process.
- Research well-being, employee engagement and population health and share findings on specific health and well-being topics with the team and other stakeholders.

This internship will start in May of 2026, working a hybrid schedule from our headquarters in Des Moines office.
Qualifications
- Current junior, senior or master’s student pursing a degree in Human Resources, Population Health Management, Healthcare Management, Public Health or related health science program
- Strong collaboration skills with the ability to influence and build relationships of trust
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to make recommendations and interact with all levels of the organization
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
- Excellent presentation skill with the ability to present information to a variety of audiences
- Proven problem solving and analytical thinking skills
- Self-starter with positive, can-do attitude and growth mindset
- Ability to take initiative, prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience in insurance, healthcare or well-being beneficial
- Interest in health, well-being, data analytics or employee benefits
