Luzmo is seeking a highly skilled and hands-on AI Engineer with a strong theoretical background and practical experience in applying AI technologies. The ideal candidate holds a Master’s or PhD in AI and has spent time the past 2 years working with Large Language Model (LLM) APIs. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and integrating AI-driven solutions into real-world applications, working closely with software engineers, and product teams.

Key Responsibilities:
Integrate AI/LLM models into product workflows (OpenAI, Hugging Face, etc.)
Optimize AI model performance (latency, cost, throughput)
Design, build, and maintain backend APIs and services using Node.js
Build internal tools and APIs for experimentation and prototyping
Ensure system reliability, scalability, and observability
Stay up to date with the latest advancements in AI/ML (LLMs, vector databases, LangChain, etc.)
Contribute to architectural decisions around AI infrastructure and backend systems
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business needs and deliver AI-driven insights.
Requirements
Master’s or PhD in Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, Machine Learning, or a related field.
Strong understanding of AI concepts, particularly LLMs and their usage in production
Familiarity with AI/ML frameworks or APIs
Understanding of performance tuning and cost optimization for AI models
3+ years of experience in backend development, preferably with Node.js
Experience with testing of AI based features
Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
Working knowledge of SQL and databases (relational and column stores).
Familiarity with AI ethics, bias mitigation, and explainability in AI models.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Solid English communication skills (written & spoken)
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in fine-tuning and optimizing LLMs for specific tasks.
Understanding of MLOps and CI/CD pipelines for AI model deployment.
Contributions to AI research or open-source projects.
Knowledge of RUST
