About the role
Ready to shape the future of insurance? Coalition is seeking a dynamic actuary to help build a world-class pricing team, with a core focus on Directors & Officers (D&O) and Employment Practices Liability (EPL). This is a high-impact role offering significant ownership and the chance to deliver innovative solutions in one of insurance’s fastest-growing spaces.
In this role, you will be at the heart of our actuarial operation—owning key pricing functions, supporting the launch of new products, and collaborating daily with talented data scientists, engineers, and business specialists. You’ll drive projects from risk segmentation and predictive modeling to rate filing and process automation, with your work directly influencing our company’s growth and profitability.

Responsibilities
- Be the #1 subject matter expert at Coalition related to the pricing of the Professional Liability products, with a focus on D&O and EPL.
- Build, maintain, and support rate manuals and filings for D&O and EPL lines, ensuring rate adequacy, compliance, and sound risk selection.
- Price new and existing insurance products using advanced actuarial methods and predictive modeling, continually seeking innovative opportunities to improve pricing accuracy.
- Develop and implement risk controls, and create tools and dashboards to assess pricing rates and business performance.
- Automate and enhance actuarial processes to support both pricing and rate filing efficiency.
- Provide ad hoc support and deliver actuarially sound recommendations to business partners and leadership.
- Collaborate across insurance, data science, and engineering teams to deliver data-driven solutions.
- Champion transparency by actively communicating price and risk insights to relevant partners, particularly regarding regulatory requirements and admitted product strategy.
Skills and Qualifications
- 7+ years of pricing experience, including at least 3 years focused on D&O or EPL
- Has completed 5+ Actuarial Exams
- Undergraduate degree in Actuarial Science, Data Science or any other related field
- Proven experiences in filing
- Strong programming skills in R, Python, and/or SQL
- Excellent communication skills including ability to vulgarize complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences
- Ability to take ambiguous problems and solve them in a structured data-driven way
- Strong understanding of actuarial pricing concepts
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast paced environment, be creative and think outside the box
Bonus Skills
- ACAS or FCAS designation
- Experience in predictive modeling
- Ability to build transactional data pipelines
- Master degree in Data Science or Actuarial Science
- Ability to build UI/UX design
Compensation
Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The US base salary for this position ranges from $121,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $160,000/year in our highest geographic market. Consistent with applicable laws, an employee’s pay within this range is based on a number of factors, which include but are not limited to relevant education, skills, job-related knowledge, qualifications, work experience, credentials, and/or geographic location. Your recruiter can share more on target salary for your location during the interview process. Coalition, Inc. reserves the right to modify this range as needed.
