Job description
ABOUT THE COALITION
The Building Decarbonization Coalition (BDC) aligns building industry stakeholders with energy providers, environmental and environmental justice organizations, labor and workforce stakeholders, equipment manufacturers, and local governments to help electrify homes and workspaces with clean energy. Through convening, policy analysis, and consumer awareness building, the Coalition is pursuing fast, fair action to accelerate the development of zero-emission homes and buildings that will help leading states cut one of their largest sources of climate pollution, while creating safe, healthy and affordable communities.
THE CALIFORNIA HEAT PUMP PARTNERSHIP
The California Heat Pump Partnership (CAHPP) is a public-private partnership launched and managed by BDC that brings together state policy leaders, heat pump manufacturers, retailers, distributors, utilities, and other key market stakeholders to rapidly scale California’s heat pump market and achieve Governor Newsom’s goal of installing six million heat pumps in California’s buildings by 2030.
CAHPP priorities include:
- Accelerating progress toward the installation of six million heat pumps by 2030, with 50% of funding directed towards low-income and disadvantaged communities.
- Facilitating closer cross-sector coordination between key stakeholders and decision-makers.
- Identifying and addressing technical, market, and policy barriers to accelerate heat pump adoption.
- Increasing awareness and favorability of heat pumps and building electrification among California homeowners, renters, and contractors through strategic marketing.
The CAHPP is guided by two advisory bodies, which convene three times per year in California and oversee actions and progress toward our goal:
- Public Policy Board: Policymakers including Governor Newsom’s Sr. Climate Advisor, the Chair of California Energy Commission, the President of the California Public Utilities Commission, and the Chair of the California Air Resources Board.
- Market Advisory Board: Executive leadership from major heat pump manufacturers, retailers, utilities, and other market actors from across the heat pump supply chain.
CAHPP INTEGRATED MARKETING STRATEGY
This year, the CAHPP will launch a comprehensive marketing, education, and outreach (MEO) initiative with a dual audience of both consumers and contractors. Through this effort, CAHPP aims to create a positive feedback loop where informed consumers drive contractor interest in heat pumps, and knowledgeable contractors, in turn, boost consumer confidence. An integrated strategy, outlined in the CAHPP’s recently released Blueprint, will use a targeted, multi-channel approach—including paid and earned media, influencers, experiential events, and digital tools.
POSITION SUMMARY
In this newly created role, the Associate Director of Integrated Marketing & Client Engagement will oversee and drive the execution of the CAHPP’s state-wide, multi-channel integrated marketing strategy—designed to drive both consumer and contractor adoption of heat pumps. This individual will serve as the connective tissue across CAHPP’s marketing, communications, partnerships, and digital teams to deliver cohesive, high-impact campaigns.
Reporting to the CAHPP Director, the Associate Director will own project execution, coordinate cross-functional teams, facilitate seamless external stakeholder engagement, and ensure all teams are moving in sync toward a unified vision. The Associate Director is not simply an oversight role—it requires a manager who can align workstreams, translate strategy into tactical plans, and problem solve to remove roadblocks. The ideal candidate brings a strong track record of running integrated marketing campaigns, delivering client-ready presentations, and managing complex projects in consulting or client-facing environments.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in cross-sectoral environments and can speak the languages of marketers, digital strategists, product managers, and policy partners alike.
