Job description

About Trove Recommerce

Recognized in 2020 by FastCo as one of the world’s most innovative companies, Trove powers resale for the world’s most inspired brands and retailers.  We provide brands with the technology and logistics to own the secondary market for their products.  With our white-label capabilities, our partners reap the rewards of managing their own resale market by accelerating long-term revenue, increasing customer loyalty, gaining new customers and boosting store and site traffic.  Resale is a revenue and customer engagement opportunity growing at 5 times the rate of e-commerce and 21 times the rate of traditional retail.  We power in-store and online retail for leaders such as Patagonia, REI, Eileen Fisher, Arc’teryx, Allbirds, Carhartt, Michael Kors, Levi’s, and more.

About the Business Development Director

As Business Development Director, you’ll drive Trove’s continued growth by securing new brand partners across fashion, outdoor, footwear, luxury, and lifestyle categories. You’ll be assigned a book of business aligned to your experience and relationships, and will be responsible for sourcing, influencing, and closing complex, multi-year partnerships with globally recognized brands and retailers.

The resale category is accelerating rapidly, and Trove is the leading partner at scale. In this role, you’ll build relationships with decision-makers ranging from C-suite executives and investors to brand managers and sustainability leaders. You’ll also collaborate closely with internal stakeholders across Marketing, Product, Partnerships, and Operations to craft compelling, high-impact solutions for our partners.

This position reports to the VP of Business Development and sits within a small, highly collaborative Growth team.

What You’ll Do:

  • Develop and execute ambitious quarterly and annual business development goals.
  • Drive both inbound and outbound sales efforts across your assigned book of business.
  • Lead sales strategy for each prospect—mapping stakeholders, understanding goals, and identifying the strategic fit.
  • Build trust and influence across a range of buyer personas including sustainability, ecommerce, merchandising, and strategy leaders.
  • Partner with Marketing, Product, and Data teams to develop powerful, insight-driven narratives and sales materials.
  • Negotiate and close long-term agreements that achieve revenue and margin targets while supporting Trove’s market leadership.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to coordinate favorable terms, finalize contracts, and ensure successful partner transitions.
  • Represent Trove at industry events and conferences, occasionally traveling for in-person meetings with brand stakeholders.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor moves, and public company disclosures to inform sales strategy and pipeline development.
  • Contribute to the continued evolution of efficient, scalable business development processes.

Experience You Bring

  • 10+ years of sales experience closing consultative, complex, highly strategic, multi-year deals.
  • Deep relationships and reputation working with or for large enterprise brands and retailers in fashion, luxury, athletic/outdoor spaces.
  • Experience working within a retail brand environment and understanding brand priorities.
  • Strong understanding of SaaS, ecommerce platforms, and digital retail trends.
  • Comfort with software-driven organizations and cross-functional product teams.
  • Collaborative and team-oriented—motivated by both personal results and team success.
  • Detail oriented - strong communicator - strategic thinker.

Why Work Here?

  • Flexible Remote Workplace - Trove’s flexible schedule and remote workplace allows employees more freedom in their schedule, which is invaluable when it comes to attending to the needs of personal and work life needs.
