Reports to: Our VP of Design & Development
Your Mission:
As Director of Design & Development, your mission is to lead the execution of world-class amenity spaces within commercial office buildings across the country. You will guide the design strategy from concept to completion — translating vision into tangible environments that blend hospitality, wellness, and workplace innovation. You’ll serve as the creative and technical bridge between our internal teams, external consultants, and property stakeholders.
The Legacy You’ll Leave:
As a result of your time in this role, Lulafit will have delivered best-in-class tenant experiences that transform underutilized real estate into high-performance spaces. You’ll have scaled design efforts across multiple markets, elevated our brand aesthetic, and enhanced operational efficiency through thoughtful, human-centered design. Your work will help position Lulafit as a trusted partner to the country’s top landlords and a category leader in workplace placemaking.
What You’re Responsible For:
- Design Execution & Leadership: Lead the design development process from concept through construction for new and renovated amenity spaces. Own the full design cycle — including discovery, programming recommendations, spatial layouts, FF&E sourcing, and vendor coordination. Translate strategic narratives into compelling visual presentations for client and internal alignment.
- Client Engagement & Cross-Team Collaboration: Serve as the primary design point of contact for client stakeholders (landlords, architects, project managers). Facilitate presentations, incorporate feedback, and align creative work with business goals. Partner with strategy, operations, and construction teams to ensure operational feasibility and functionality.
- Documentation & Standards: Create and manage space type packages, design decks, and specification documents. Ensure designs meet clients’ developed brand standards across projects. Help evolve and maintain Lulafit’s internal design standards and spatial brand guidelines.
- Vendor & Consultant Coordination: Collaborate with external architects, contractors, and consultants to deliver projects on time and on budget. Review shop drawings, vendor quotes, and oversee quality control of external vendors. Source and update FF&E standards across meeting and fitness spaces to reflect trends in wellness and office design
Who You Are - Baseline Expectations:
- 6–10 years of experience in interior design or architecture, ideally in commercial, hospitality, or workplace projects (bonus if you have fitness or spa design experience)
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or related field
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, Revit preferred
- Strong design portfolio demonstrating both conceptual vision and technical precision
- Experience sourcing and specifying FF&E with procurement oversight
- Confident presenter who can manage shifting priorities and complex stakeholder dynamics
- Deep understanding of spatial planning, building codes, and phased project delivery
