As a trusted partner to over 17 million learners and 6,000+ companies, including 80% of the Fortune 1000, DataCamp is leading the charge in addressing the critical data and AI skills shortage.

About the role

We are looking for an Engineering Manager to lead the development of the Learn product across web and mobile platforms, the core of DataCamp’s mission. You’ll partner closely with Product and Design to shape the team’s direction, drive execution, and continuously improve how we build and ship high-quality learner experiences.

As Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for leading a cross-functional product engineering team, in close collaboration with Product, Design, and other teams across the company. Your primary mission is to ensure the team delivers high-quality software that delights learners, while cultivating a culture of ownership and urgency.

You will also play a key role in driving the technical roadmap, balancing new feature development with platform robustness and performance, and ensuring engineering best practices are followed.

About you

At DataCamp, we value action, ownership, transparency, and a deep focus on learners. You’re someone who:

  • Has a strong technical background.
  • Is passionate about data education and wants to shape how the next generation of data scientists and data engineers learn.
  • Stays current with the latest trends, tools, and technologies.
  • Thrives in fast-paced environments.
  • Communicates clearly and can make complex ideas easy to understand.
  • Takes ownership and brings structure to ambiguity.

Responsibilities

  • Build, support, and develop a high-performing full-stack engineering team through hiring, coaching, and mentorship
  • Drive delivery of high-quality web and mobile features aligned with product goals
  • Partner with Product and Design to define and execute the team’s roadmap
  • Lead technical decision-making and system architecture for scalability and maintainability
  • Balance short-term delivery speed with long-term code and platform health
  • Champion strong engineering practices including testing, documentation, and code quality
  • Foster a culture of ownership, urgency, and accountability within the team
  • Ensure effective collaboration across teams and clear stakeholder communication
  • Contribute to the evolution of team culture, technical standards, and organizational processes
  • Encourage thoughtful use of AI tooling to boost productivity and quality

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience managing and growing engineering teams in an agile environment
  • 5+ years of hands-on software engineering experience (web, mobile, or both)
  • Proven ability to deliver high-quality software in cross-functional product teams
  • A strong sense of urgency and ownership, with the ability to move fast, stay focused on impact, and drive projects forward with momentum
  • Strong technical foundation, ideally with full-stack experience in any mainstream object-oriented or strongly typed languages
  • Clear understanding of scalable system design, code quality, and software lifecycle best practices
  • Enthusiasm for AI-assisted development (e.g., Cursor, Claude, GitHub Copilot) and a thoughtful approach to integrating these tools in the engineering workflow
  • Ability to collaborate closely with Product, Design, and Data to prioritize and deliver impact. Bonus if strong product intuition.
  • Great communication and people skills (you listen well, speak clearly, and build trust across teams)
  • A pragmatic, value-oriented mindset with the ability to balance trade-offs and drive decisions
