Job description
Who We Are
Inato is a Tech for Good company striving to bring clinical research to each and every patient, regardless of who they are or where they live. To do this, we are building the world’s first clinical trial platform to create greater visibility, access, and engagement across a more diverse population of doctors and their patients.
Drug development is a challenging, intellectually complex, and rewarding endeavor: we enable global pharmaceutical companies to confidently partner with community-based researchers to increase patient access to the latest medical innovations. The platform currently offers clinical trials from leading companies to over 4,000 sites across the globe and we are well poised for growth in 2025.
We are a growing team of passionate pharmaceutical experts, software engineers, professional services members, and many more - all bringing their unique perspectives to solve the challenges facing clinical research.
Inato is the recent recipient of Fast Company’s Most Innovative Companies of 2024, Fierce Healthcare’s Fierce 15, and Built In’s Best Places to Work 2025.
The Role
We are looking for an engineering manager to lead our Perform product squad, who is building patient pre-screening software for clinical research sites. This product helps sites quickly and efficiently identify eligible patients for clinical trials, significantly improving trial enrollment and outcomes.
The work of the Perform squad relies heavily on generative AI, using a mix of in-house models and third-party services. While we don’t expect you to write code regularly, we are looking for someone with strong technical insight who can guide the team and collaborate effectively with engineering and product stakeholders.
This is a dual-role position, combining people management and technical leadership : you will shape the direction of a high-impact product and support a talented team of engineers. You will report to our CTO, Bastien Duret.
Responsibilities
- Operational excellence: you will partner with a product manager and lead your squad in sustainably delivering business value. You will plan delivery to optimize for fast flow. You will identify bottlenecks and lead continuous improvement initiatives.
- Collaboration: you will organize work within your squad. You will facilitate the right conversations and make informed decisions, balancing multiple perspectives and having productive debates with the right stakeholders.
- Craft: you will contribute to architecture decisions and ensure the quality of the work your squad will ship. You will guide engineers in finding the right balance between cutting corners and optimizing prematurely.
- Talent: you will manage 6-8 product engineers. You will regularly provide concrete feedback on their work and overall performance. You will foster their growth by giving them opportunities to leverage their strengths. You will hire, train and onboard future team members.
- Culture: you will promote Inato’s operating principles. You will lead by example and make sure they are lived daily in your squad.
Qualifications
- Strong engineering background and scale-up experience: you have built a web product as a software engineer, as part of a team, in a fast-paced environment. You have faced the challenges of maintaining quality while expanding scope and of maintaining fast flow with a growing codebase.
- Remote management: you have experience managing a team of senior software engineers working remotely.
- Product mindset and systemic thinking: you are product-minded and system-oriented. You care about what you build, and how you build it.
- You can communicate clearly in written and oral form in French and English, with technical and non-technical counterparts
