What your day will look like

As the Team Leader for the Exposures Team, you will drive a new and critical initiative at Axonius, leading a highly technical group focused on identifying, analyzing, and contextualizing vulnerabilities across complex environments.

This is a hands-on leadership role at the intersection of cybersecurity, threat intelligence, and deep technical systems understanding. You will be responsible for building detection capabilities, integrating with EDRs and other telemetry sources, and delivering insights that empower security teams to manage exposures at scale.

You’ll guide the team in shaping our approach to vulnerability analysis, detection logic, protocol parsing, and data enrichment, all while working closely with data scientists, product managers, and platform engineers.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of Axonius’ exposure and vulnerability insights engine - a new area in the platform.
  • Build integrations with endpoint protection solutions (EDRs) and agent-based data collectors.
  • Develop mechanisms to analyze and interpret system, application, and network logs to detect misconfigurations, exposures, and vulnerabilities.
  • Guide the implementation of logic and heuristics to detect protocol-level and software vulnerabilities (e.g., misconfigured services, outdated versions).
  • Mentor and lead a team of engineers focused on deep system analysis, detection logic, and cyber domain expertise.
  • Drive architectural decisions in data enrichment, processing, and scalable detection pipelines.
  • Collaborate with security researchers and threat intelligence teams to feed emerging vulnerabilities into detection systems.
  • Be hands-on: write code, debug complex environments, and validate detections at the system level.
  • Participate in and influence the product roadmap related to Axonius’ exposures module.

Reach Out If You Are

  • 2+ years of experience managing a technical, hands-on engineering team.
  • 5+ years of experience in cybersecurity, systems programming, or vulnerability research.
  • Deep understanding of operating system internals (Linux, Windows), protocols (e.g., SMB, RDP, SSH, HTTP/S), and common misconfigurations.
  • Strong familiarity with CVEs, CWE classifications, MITRE ATT&CK, and vulnerability management processes.
  • Experience integrating with EDRs, XDRs, or other endpoint telemetry sources.
  • Hands-on development experience in Python (required)
  • Experience analyzing logs and system artifacts (Sysmon, audited, system logs, etc.) - Advantage
  • Strong background in parsing structured and unstructured data (JSON, logs, binary protocols).
  • Comfortable in modern cloud-native and distributed architectures.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally in a dynamic environment.
  • Bonus: Experience in building detection-as-code frameworks or contributing to security tooling projects.

This role is a unique opportunity to lead a strategic new team at the heart of Axonius’ innovation in vulnerability and exposure management. If you’re passionate about building systems that make sense of complex cyber data, love to go deep technically, and want to lead from the front, we’d love to meet you.

Join us in building the next frontier of cybersecurity exposure visibility.
