WHAT YOU’LL BE WORKING ON

  • Define and execute a high-level structure of systems and software solutions that support the business and product goals.
  • Ensure architectural decisions and solutions to support scalability, performance, security, and maintainability.
  • Evaluate and adopt appropriate technologies, frameworks, platforms, and tools.
  • Ensure best engineering practices and design patterns.
  • Ensure architectural and infrastructure decisions support scalability, security, and performance.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop (through performance reviews) tech leads.
  • Oversee the engineer and the engineer lead hiring/firing.
  • Manage cybersecurity protocols in collaboration with DevOps, disaster recovery, and business continuity planning.
  • Evaluate and negotiate with external vendors, suppliers, and service providers on IT tooling, subscriptions, etc.
  • Act as a bridge between engineering teams and executive/business stakeholders.
  • Manage helpdesk/support operations and internal IT services.
  • Ensure uptime, reliability, and efficient incident response.
  • Encourage technical experimentation and innovation across teams.
  • Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies.
  • Drive initiatives around automation, AI, and engineering process optimisation
  • Design APIs and integration strategies between systems/services.
  • Ensure smooth data flow across platforms.
  • Establish coding, architectural, and infrastructure standards.
  • Build and validate proof-of-concepts for new technologies or architectures.
  • Mentor developers on architectural principles and practices.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED IN THIS ROLE

  • Proven experience as an engineering leader or lead architect over the past several years, preferably in a SaaS company.
  • Wide technical expertise: algorithms, data structures, Linux, networking, security, SQL/NoSQL databases, and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure).
  • Deep understanding of distributed systems and microservice architectures, including inter-service protocols and distributed transactions.
  • Familiar with PCI DSS compliance requirements and secure system design practices.
  • Strong hands-on development background, especially with Go and other modern languages.
  • Expert in architectural design for scalable, secure, and maintainable systems.
  • Skilled in technology selection, tooling, and platform integration.
  • Strong grasp of software engineering best practices and architectural design patterns.
  • Knowledge of DevOps, CI/CD, and incident response best practices.
  • Effective communication and leadership skills, with the ability to mentor senior engineers and tech leads.
