The Internal Service Platform team is an internal developer platform that provides easily accessible golden paths for building, developing, and deploying services within Datadog. We offer a standardized set of tools and frameworks that abstract underlying complexities, enabling Datadog engineers to focus on releasing products quickly and reliably.

As the manager of the Workloads & Integrations team, you will be responsible for building and maintaining the various workloads available on the platform, including HTTP, GRPC, task runners, and queues. You will also partner with other internal platform teams to identify opportunities to onboard additional workloads and platform integrations like datastores, further expanding our golden paths. This strategic approach allows Datadog to leverage economies of scale by encapsulating more functionality within the platform’s interfaces, ultimately streamlining product development and fostering company growth as we enter new markets. Your role will involve identifying common workflows and integrations suitable for platform abstraction, advocating for their inclusion, and empowering your team to build and drive their adoption.

What You’ll Do:

  • Guide and mentor a diverse team of 4-6 software engineers, fostering career growth and ensuring high team performance.
  • Drive the technical roadmap in collaboration with product and platform teams, aligning with company objectives and improving developer velocity.
  • Familiarize yourself with other internal platform teams to identify areas of shared benefit and drive execution of the delivery of a variety of features and functionality that abstracts away common workloads which enable Datadog engineers to bring new products to market quickly, ultimately being an enabler for revenue generation.
  • Understand the broader business context to align technical decisions with business goals, supporting long-term objectives and driving innovation.
  • Make data-driven, user-focused decisions to solve ambiguous problems, impacting the velocity of hundreds of engineers.

Who You Are:

  • A seasoned software engineer with experience building developer tools and customer-facing products, with experience designing and building a variety of backend and distributed systems
  • A technical people manager who has a bias towards action, user-centric iterative delivery, and understanding technical debt to focus on what matters most
  • A proven leader with the ability to manage team dynamics, set goals, provide feedback, and foster a positive and productive work environment
  • A capable project manager who can plan, organize, and oversee multiple software engineering projects
  • An excellent communicator who is comfortable interacting with team members, stakeholders, and upper management alike
  • You balance developer experience and partner team needs, prioritizing platform consistency, speed, and simplicity, ensuring sound technical solutions without overengineering despite increasing complexity.
