Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and empathetic Patient Access Virtual Assistant who is fluent in both Mandarin and English to provide crucial support to our patients. In this remote role, you will be the first point of contact for many of our Mandarin-speaking patients, assisting them with scheduling appointments, providing information, and navigating our healthcare services. Your excellent communication skills and cultural sensitivity will be essential in ensuring a positive and efficient patient experience.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary virtual point of contact for Mandarin-speaking patients via phone, email, and potentially other digital communication channels.
- Accurately and efficiently schedule, reschedule, and cancel patient appointments.
- Verify patient insurance information and assist with pre-authorization processes as needed.
- Collect and update patient demographic and medical information with accuracy and confidentiality.
- Provide clear and concise information to patients regarding appointment preparation, directions, and other relevant details.
- Assist patients with accessing patient portals and other online resources.
- Handle patient inquiries and concerns with empathy and professionalism, escalating complex issues to the appropriate department.
- Maintain accurate records of patient interactions and transactions.
- Adhere to all HIPAA regulations and maintain patient confidentiality.
- Collaborate effectively with other healthcare team members.
- Perform other administrative tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Fluency in both Mandarin Chinese and English (written and spoken) is essential. You will be communicating with patients primarily in Mandarin.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
- Proven experience in a customer service role, preferably in a healthcare setting.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both Mandarin and English.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in using computers, navigating software applications, and typing accurately.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated empathy, patience, and a customer-centric approach.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Reliable high-speed internet connection and a quiet, dedicated home workspace.
- Familiarity with medical terminology and healthcare processes is a plus.
