Network Manager – Europe
Sysco are now recruiting for a Network Manager to join the Infrastructure & Technology team on a full-time, permanent basis.
Reporting to the Director of Enterprise Network Services, you will be embedded within the global Sysco Network team, providing architectural leadership and network expertise to support Sysco’s European operations. This role focuses on the design, development, and optimization of high-performance, high-availability network solutions and services, including automation, security, and disaster recovery readiness.
The successful candidate will lead the creation of infrastructure frameworks, work closely with third-party vendors, and manage a small high-performing team. You’ll also provide subject matter expertise on both project and operational activity while contributing to strategic planning for future network services.
Key Responsibilities
- Design & Strategy
- Lead the design, evaluation, and documentation of complex network solutions including WAN, LAN, VPN, Wi-Fi, security, and load balancing
- Act as the SME for network architecture across the region, ensuring best practices and operational excellence
- Lead network-related projects from concept through to implementation, including SOWs, design documentation, and post-deployment support
- Ensure network infrastructure is resilient, scalable, and compliant with Sysco’s enterprise standards
- Participate in enterprise-wide strategy and design sessions, contributing to long-term infrastructure planning
- Management & Leadership
- Manage and develop a cohesive European network team, including mentoring and performance reviews
- Deliver against agreed KPIs within budget and timelines
- Support the development of network reference architectures and tools
- Provide leadership in day-to-day team activities and stakeholder management
- Operations & Support
- Oversee operational elements including network security, firewall administration, and compliance reviews
- Lead the on-call rotation and respond to critical incidents where needed
- Monitor and maintain enterprise infrastructure across local sites, remote offices, and data centres
- Support and optimize LAN, WAN, wireless, and cloud-integrated services
- Vendor & Stakeholder Engagement
- Collaborate with external vendors, telecom carriers, and managed services partners to deliver infrastructure requirements
- Provide clear status updates to PMO, internal customers, and senior leadership
About You
The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented network expert with proven experience designing, delivering, and maintaining large-scale enterprise network environments. You’ll have deep technical skills across Cisco technologies, cloud platforms, and security, and you’ll be confident leading teams and projects in a fast-paced, distributed environment.
Qualifications and Skills
Education:
- Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related discipline
- Preferred: Advanced degree and/or Network Certifications (CCNP, CCIE)
Experience:
- Extensive network architecture experience in enterprise environments ( eg. 300+ sites / 85k end users)
- Strong understanding of enterprise-grade LAN, WAN, VPN, security, wireless, and load balancing technologies
- Proven experience with team leadership and stakeholder management
- Experience working in hybrid or fully remote environments
Technical Skills:
- Cisco switching, routing, and wireless: Catalyst, Nexus, StackWise, FlexStack, VSS
- Network security: Cisco ASA, Checkpoint firewalls, TACACS
- Load balancing: F5
- Monitoring: SolarWinds, Infoblox, packet sniffing tools
- Remote/cloud services: AWS, Azure
- Routing/switching protocols: BGP, EIGRP, HSRP, VRF
- Strong experience with network documentation (Visio) and project lifecycle management
Personal Attributes:
- Analytical mindset with strong troubleshooting capabilities
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Calm under pressure and comfortable with 24⁄7 operational responsibility when required
- Strong time management and team collaboration capabilities
