Position Title: Portal/UI Designer
Position Type: Contractor
Location: Remote in the US
Position Summary
We are seeking an innovative and detail-oriented Portal/UI Designer to create modern, intuitive, and user-centric digital portal experiences across a variety of platforms. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in UI/UX design, information architecture, and visual storytelling, with the ability to craft cohesive user journeys in enterprise environments. Experience with SharePoint is required, but the role also calls for proficiency in other web and collaboration technologies across the modern digital workplace stack.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Design and implement engaging, accessible, and high-performing user interfaces for internal and external portals.
Collaborate with business and technical teams to understand user needs, gather requirements, and define design objectives.
Create wireframes, prototypes, mockups, and design documentation to support UI/UX development.
Work with a range of platforms, including (but not limited to) SharePoint, Microsoft 365, intranet portals, and cloud-based collaboration tools.
Utilize front-end technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and React or similar frameworks to deliver dynamic and responsive designs.
Maintain consistent branding and user experience across multiple platforms and devices.
Conduct user research and usability testing to validate design decisions and continuously improve user experiences.
Stay current with design trends, technologies, and best practices to bring fresh ideas to portal and UI development.
Collaborate closely with developers, project managers, and content strategists to ensure seamless implementation.
Required Skills & Abilities
Strong UI/UX design skills with a user-centered design approach.
Proficiency in modern design tools such as Figma, Adobe XD, or similar platforms.
Solid understanding of front-end development principles, responsive design, and accessibility standards.
Experience designing for one or more of the following: SharePoint, Microsoft Teams, Atlassian Confluence, ServiceNow, Salesforce Experience Cloud, or equivalent platforms.
Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
Ability to balance creativity with technical feasibility and project requirements.
Education & Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Web Design, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Computer Science, or a related field.
10 years of experience designing digital portals, web-based dashboards, or enterprise interfaces.
Experience with SharePoint is required; exposure to additional collaboration or content management platforms is strongly preferred.
A strong portfolio demonstrating portal/UI design capabilities across diverse platforms is required.
Work Authorization: U.S. Citizenship required due to federal contract requirements.
Working Conditions: This position is primarily performed in an office environment or a home office setting. Employees will be required to use a computer and other office equipment for extended periods.
