Job description
Hi there! Thanks for stopping by đź‘‹
Are you actively looking for a new opportunity? Or just checking the market? Well… you might just be in the right place!
We’re looking for an exceptional Product Manager to lead a team focused on helping restaurants deliver great service. You’ll be one of a small, close group of Product Managers in our Hospitality vertical providing tools to help restaurateurs eliminate the friction of running their restaurant, enabling them to get back to what they love – providing great hospitality.
Lightspeed is a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment that impacts a large, global customer base. The Product Manager is responsible for overall team product direction and strategy, and will involve frequent collaboration with customers and internal teams to help shape priorities and build the roadmap.
You’ll lead a product team that includes design, content, user experience research, engineering, and quality specialists to focus on bridging the gap between inexperienced staff and exceptional dining experiences.
You’ll do this by:
- Deeply understanding the operational challenges of restaurants, from the perspectives of both servers and management.
- Accurately identifying highly valuable data points that can be translated into actionable recommendations for frontline staff.
- Leading the product strategy and roadmap for our Tempo tools, prioritizing work based on customer needs, business value, and opportunity for disruption.
- Staying on top of emerging trends in data visualization and contextual notifications, integrating new techniques across web applications, iOS, and real-time systems into your strategy and roadmap.
- Strategically using AI across both the product itself and the product development lifecycle to accelerate your work, your team’s work, and bring our customers the most impactful, efficient, and flexible tools to help them run their business.
The Product Manager Role:
- Managing the discovery, research, and design phases of both the foundational data layers and their integration into multiple product touchpoints (POS, KDS, Pulse).
- Expertly executing the Product Development and Software Development lifecycles to effectively launch and scale both 0 to 1 and incremental products.
- Defining, tracking, reporting on, and iteratively responding to key performance indicators related to table pacing, guest satisfaction, and revenue impacts.
- Working cross-functionally to drive adoption of Tempo tools across existing and new customers.
What you need to bring:
You love rolling your sleeves up to build things that solve problems. You thrive in ambiguity, and “being in the weeds” (within reason) is exciting for you. You’re analytical and intuitive, and adeptly juggle both to make decisions that inspire confidence. Specifically, you have:
- Experience leading a Product team that owns a domain of functionality, with a preference for having built products 0 to 1.
- Experience with data-driven products for customer-facing (not internal business tooling) applications, particularly in operational contexts that impact end-user experiences.
- A strong understanding of data science or data visualization principles, with the ability to translate complex metrics into simple, actionable insights.
- The technical fluency to collaborate effectively with engineers and data scientists on complex data models and real-time information exchange between systems.
- A strong point of view on how data should be communicated to the end-user.
- A proven track record of launching products with positive, measurable business outcomes.
- The ability to approach problems with an empathetic lens, balancing data-driven decision making with a genuine understanding of – and intuition for – the solutions that our restaurant customers will love most.
- Demonstrated ability to understand and engage with multiple functional areas of the business – engineering, design, finance, sales, support, and marketing.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to lead without authority. You can tell a story that others understand and are excited by.
- An ownership-approach to problem solving – the ability to figure out solutions to hard problems with many constraints, using all the resources available to you.
How You’ll Know You’re Successful
- Engineers and designers have a north star and are aligned and excited. They understand the “why” and the “what” of your roadmap.
- Lightspeed colleagues are excited about what the team has delivered and what is coming up on the roadmap.
- You’re contributing to measurable success across key business metrics defined in collaboration with your manager and with the team.
