- PhD in Physics, Math or Computer Science, with a focus on quantum information theory or quantum computation preferred
- Ability to collaborate effectively across departments, sites, and time zones
- Ability to work independently and contribute in fast-moving start-up environment
- Experience programming in Python, C++ or similar languages
- Experience with numerical simulation techniques e.g. Markov-chain Monte Carlo or tensor networks
- Competent use of collaborative software development tools (e.g., GitHub) is desirable
Responsibilities
- Work closely with domain experts to model quantum phenomena in photonic components, circuits, and devices
- Implement controlled approximations of models for integration into large-scale simulation frameworks
- Identify sources of error, interactions with quantum error correcting codes, and potential mitigation techniques
- Profile simulation tools and explore and implement more optimal numerical and computational techniques
- Run numerical analyses, manage data, and communicate results
