Summary
The job is for a remote Medical Coder position offering flexible scheduling. The employee will be responsible for coding and auditing medical charts, meeting production goals, and attending conference calls. Required qualifications include AHIMA or AAPC certified program completion with professional credential, high school diploma, 3 years of coding experience, and at least 1 year of specialized experience in Medicare Risk Adjustment disciplines.
Requirements
- Successful completion of at least one AHIMA or AAPC certified program with the achievement of the correlating professional credential (RHIT, CCS, CPC-H etc.)
- Active and in good standing
- High School diploma required. Associates or BS degree preferred
- Minimum of three years of coding experience (recent hands-on production)
- At least 1 year of specialized experience in Medicare Risk Adjustment disciplines- such as HCC, CCC HEDIS
Responsibilities
- Receive assigned medical charts to code
- Review medical charts electronically using a computer
- Abstract and code diagnosis and documentation information
- Research and resolution of coding projects as assigned
- Document requested information from the medical record
- Determine valid encounters including legibility and valid signature requirements
- Identify valid face to face encounters
- Perform ongoing analysis of medical record charts for the appropriate coding compliance
- Meet daily production goal and quality goal of averaging 95% accuracy rate on a consistent basis
- Attend conference calls as necessary to provide information and/or feedback
Preferred Qualifications
- Auditing experience a PLUS
- ICD-10 experience/education a PLUS
