Job Description

The SAN and Storage Administrator will be responsible for managing and maintaining the storage infrastructure of the organization. This includes overseeing the SAN (Storage Area Network) environment, ensuring the secure and efficient storage of electronic data, and implementing backup and disaster recovery solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • SAN Infrastructure Management: Design and implement SAN architecture to meet organizational needs. Manage and maintain SAN switches, and storage devices to ensure optimal performance and reliability. Firmware upgrades, config backup management, Disaster Recovery exercises.
  • SAN replication technologies: Synchronous/Asynchronous, stretched Fabric ISL links.
  • Data Storage Management: Allocate and provision storage resources to different departments and users. Ensure data integrity and security through regular backups and implementing appropriate access controls.
  • SAN Performance Optimization: Tune SAN components, such as switches and storage devices, to maximize performance and minimize latency. Monitor and analyze performance metrics to identify bottlenecks and optimize the SAN environment.
  • Storage Capacity Planning: Forecast future storage requirements based on data growth trends. Plan and implement storage upgrades or expansions to accommodate the organization’s evolving needs.
  • Troubleshooting and Support: Provide operational support for the SAN environment, including on-call responsibilities. Address and resolve issues related to storage performance, capacity, and availability.
  • Refresh Projects: Hardware swaps, refresh projects, upgrades, data migration projects.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Relevant certifications such as HPE, Dell EMC, ITIL, or equivalent.
  • Experience in SAN administration and storage management in large commercial environments.

Preferred Skills:

  • Expertise in SAN, DAS, NAS administration.
  • Knowledge of Linux, Unix and Windows environments.
  • Experience with enterprise backup solutions.
  • Familiarity with compliance policies and procedures.

Work Environment: The SAN and Storage Administrator will work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, collaborating with various departments to ensure the availability, reliability, and security of the organization’s critical data.
