Senior Art Director, Photography | Job Description
Are you a visual storyteller who can lead and inspire? Do you have an exceptional eye for how a product feels through a lens? We’re looking for a Senior Art Director or Creative Lead (Photography) to join our team at a giant tech hardware brand. You’ll be the creative force behind how our hardware is seen and experienced by the world, shepherding the creative photographic vision for visual assets across the brand and various channel touchpoints.
In this role, you’ll be responsible for defining and executing a world-class photographic language that is both impactful and functional. You’ll work closely with product marketing and digital and physical retail to translate complex technology and product features into compelling, emotional, and stunning visuals. This is a hands-on art director position that also requires the ability to lead internal partner teams, junior staff, and creative vendors. The role is a contract position, expected to continue 40 hours per week into February.
What You’ll Do
- Lead the creative vision. You’ll own the photographic art direction for our product lines, establishing and maintaining a consistent visual identity across all platforms, from BTL print materials to digital campaigns.
- Concept and execute. You’ll be responsible for developing creative concepts, building highly detailed shot lists, and leading photo shoots from start to finish, ensuring every image represents the brand in a premium and aspirational manner.
- Mentor and manage. You’ll manage a team of talented photographers, retouchers, and producers, providing clear direction, constructive feedback, and fostering a collaborative creative environment.
- Collaborate cross-functionally. You’ll partner with product marketing leads, industrial designers, and partner channel leads to articulate the core story of our products and translate them into a powerful visual narrative.
- Innovate and inspire. You’ll stay ahead of industry trends, push creative boundaries, and continually elevate our brand’s visual presence.
What We’re Looking For
- 10+ years of experience as an Art Director, Creative Lead, or similar role with a heavy focus on photography, preferably within a tech, hardware, or fashion product brand.
- An exceptional portfolio showcasing a deep understanding of product photography, lifestyle photography, and visual storytelling. Your work should demonstrate a mastery of lighting, styling, composition, and emotional resonance.
- Proven leadership experience. You’ve successfully led and inspired creative teams, managing projects from concept to completion with a keen eye for detail.
- A strategic and conceptual thinker. You can connect business objectives with creative execution, translating brand strategy into a cohesive photographic direction.
- Expert knowledge of photography equipment, lighting techniques, and post-production workflows. Strong communication skills. You’re able to articulate your creative vision clearly and persuasively to both creative and non-creative stakeholders. You should be comfortable in the minutiae and technical jargon, and also be able to float at 10,000 feet speaking directly to executive leadership in a way that is clear and effective.
Are you ready to shape the visual identity of some of the most exciting hardware products in the world? We can’t wait to see your work.
- Interactive agency experience is preferred
The anticipated hourly range for this position is $80 - $95 per hour. This is based on a 40-hour workweek and leveling. Keep in mind, we’re flexible.
