Job description
đ About Owner.com
Owner is the all-in-one platform that restaurants use to succeed online.
Thousands of restaurant owners use our tools to build their website, drive online orders, create their own branded app, manage their customer relationships, and set up marketing automations.
You can think of it as Shopify meets HubSpot, but specifically for restaurants.
Learn more about the problems we are solving for our customers here.
đ Our vision
Weâre starting by helping independent restaurants succeed online.
But itâs not just restaurants that need our help. Most local businesses are struggling with these same problems. Huge technology corporations are taking their customers, bleeding their profits, and making it hard for them to survive.
Once we nail the solution for restaurants â weâll scale it into every other local business type.
In the future we envision, tens of millions of local business owners will use our technology to succeed in the digital age.
đ Our traction
In just over 3 years we’ve generated tens of millions in revenue, served millions of guests, and processed hundreds of millions of online orders.
More importantly, weâve helped thousands of restaurant owners save their businesses - and not only survive, but thrive.
â Our team
Our team grew from under 100 to nearly 200 talented people in 2024. Weâve got top talent from the most successful companies in SMB software, including: Shopify, HubSpot, DoorDash, ServiceTitan, Rappi, Faire and Stripe.
Weâll be scaling even faster in 2025 to keep pace with our customer growth.
đ Where we work
Owner is a remote-first, global company headquartered in San Francisco, with a sales hub in Toronto. For a few of our roles we prioritize in-person collaboration at one of our office locations. Most of our teammates are distributed throughout the globe. Please review the role description and discuss with your recruiter for more details on location.
đWhy weâre looking for you
Owner.comâs restaurantâcommerce platform is growing rapidly, and our build pipelines must keep pace. Weâre hiring a missionâdriven Senior or Staff Build Engineer to own CI/CD across backend, frontend, AND mobileâiOS build pipeline experience is absolutely required. Youâll ensure engineers can ship confidently to production and App Stores, quickly and reliably, with minimal overhead and maximal uptime.
Your builds power everything from Node.js microservices and web storefronts to iOS and Android apps used by restaurants, diners, and Owner.comâs backâoffice teams.
đ„ How youâll make an impact
- Own and scale build automation â design, build, and maintain our CI/CD infrastructure (pipelines, runners, artifact storage, signing agents, self-hosted macOS runners); ensure developers across backend, frontend, and mobile can iterate quickly without worrying about builds breaking down
- Take charge of our mobile pipelines, with particular focus on iOS: automate versioning, provisioning profile management, keychain handling, automated signing, .ipa generation, TestFlight distribution, and App Store submission via Fastlane or native tooling
- Embed quality and traceability into build stages â integrate linting, on-device tests (XCTest, Espresso, Appium), code coverage metrics, and build-state dashboards to reduce flakiness and turnaround time
- Apply an SRE mindset to delivery â model build success/failure ratios as SLIs, define error budgets, track pipeline latency (time to green), and build alerts so broken builds are fixed within minutes
- Automate for speed and reliability â build caching, parallel job orchestration, staging environment mirroring (via Terraform), and fast rollback workflows so every pipeline is idempotent and traceable.
- Champion cross-team collaboration â coach developers on writing reliable Makefile/Gradle/Xcode configurations, secure signing practices, and branching models.
- Lead incident response for build failure â serve on rotational pager for CI systems, drive blameless post-mortems, and automate resilient fallback logic (e.g. fallback runners, sourced caching).
- Strategize adoption of next-gen tools â evaluate options like GitHubâs macOS runners, Bamboo, Bitrise, or Codemagic to support future iOS scale and cross-platform parity.
đ€ Who youâll work with
- Engineers across backend, frontend, and mobile in multiple time zones
- Quality and SRE teams to drive observability and incident workflows
- Product and restaurantâops teams to align build and release cadence with customer delivery timelines
â Minimum requirements
- 5+ years as a Build, CI/CD, or Release Engineer, with strong ownership of automation pipelines in production environments
- Proven, recent hands-on ownership of iOS build pipelines: code signing, provisioning, Fastlane or Xcode Cloud automation, TestFlight/App Store delivery â for teams shipping multiple iOS apps per year.
- Experience building and operating Android CI/CD pipelines: including Gradle, keystore management, .aab signing, Play Store upload
- Deep familiarity with CI/CD orchestration tools (GitHub Actions, Buildkite, Jenkins, CircleCI, Bitrise), runners management, and certificates/security models
- Strong scripting and automation skills (Python, Bash, Ruby, or Fastlane config languages)
- Infrastructure-as-code chops (Terraform/CloudFormation), containerization (Docker), and runner provisioning
- Solid grasp of distributed build topology, artifact caching, and scaling runners on-demand
- Ability to debug build failures across layersâlocal machine, remote runner, CI agent, or test environment
- Excellent written and spoke communicationâable to document flows, onboarding, and provide technical training
đ Bonus Experience (Nice to have)
- Experience working in fast-growing mobile teams shipping to both App Store and Google Play
- Exposure to GitOps or mobile-focused platforms (App Center, Bitrise Enterprise, Codemagic)
- Familiarity with crossâplatform apps (React Native, Flutter) and their idiosyncratic build flows
- Prior experience operating self-hosted macOS build farms or dealing with Appleâs signing complexities at scale
- Past work in regulated environments (PCIâDSS, SOC 2) that required built-in signing and verification pipelines
- Background in SRE platform or DevOps roles with a focus on latency SLIs, error budgets for build systems
đ Pay & benefits
- The estimated base salary range of $190,000 - 210,000k USD along with preâIPO equity
- 100% remote across U.S. or Canada
- Full medical, dental, and vision insurance
- Homeâoffice stipend, choice of hardware, and support to set up private build infrastructure if needed
- Twiceâannual company offâsites to align strategy and socialize
đ Want to build the backbone of modern CI/CD across web-scale backend and AppâStoreâdelivered mobile? Apply now and empower Owner.com engineers to ship outstanding software with confidence.
