Where and how you can work
Our flagship campus is in Sydney. We also have a campus in Melbourne and co-working spaces in Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide. But you have choice in where and how you work. That means if you want to do your thing in the office (if you’re near one), at home or a bit of both, it’s up to you.
What you’d be doing in this role
As Canva scales change continues to be part of our DNA. But we like to think that’s all part of the fun. So this will give you the flavour of the type of things you’ll be working on when you start, but this will likely evolve.
- You will be one of the few people at Canva with a company-wide understanding of what drives our growth story.
- You will develop attribution models for free and paid users that will form the basis of our strategy performance evaluation.
- You will contribute to key pieces of technical infrastructure of existing solutions and help drive their roadmap forward.
- You will provide solutions to teams that allow them to measure more effectively.
- You will dive into how we connect the performance and goals of each team across Canva to our central growth narrative.
- You will explore how collaboration relates to free user growth and what it means commercially if platform performance improves.
- You will be working on some of the largest tooling solutions that Canva has within its data science specialty. Be ready to make key technical contributions to a large code base and develop net new methodology to improve coverage, accuracy and interpretability.
- You will also need to feel confident in defining how to present user value and effectively communicate that to key leads. This will involve forming a clear opinion and supporting it with analytics when necessary.
- You should also adopt a practical and thoughtful approach by considering how analytical solutions connect to the commercial realities at hand. Create solutions that resonate with both perspectives and advocate for what you truly believe in

- You have the ability to immerse yourself in the details of analytic solutions when necessary.
- You have the comfort level to brainstorm solutions to complex problems and engage various data specialists.
- You have the skills to directly implement solutions within existing tools.
- You have the capability to elevate your perspective to assess the business impact of analytics.
- You have the insight to evaluate the relevance of older features as new ones are introduced.
- You have strong SQL and Python craft skills and ability to communicate impactful messages to key stakeholders.
About the team
The mission of the ‘Foundational Goal Performance’ team is to enhance overall commercial measurement results across Canva, ensuring a consistent path to achieving our growth targets. This challenge lies at the heart of Canva’s identity, transforming our approach to product investments, fostering collaboration around growth, and equipping teams with the appropriate tools and metrics to facilitate these discussions. With this objective in mind, the team naturally collaborates across the entire organization to drive Canva’s progress forward as a unified entity.
This team owns, develops and maintains key data science infrastructure that is used across the organisation to support delivery of this goal. The role is focused on extending and further developing these techniques - you’ll be building advanced tooling to answer questions like “what drives free user value at Canva, which products and features are important”, or “how do our initiatives influence our overall top-line growth”. These are big questions for Canva and the answers are deeply influential at a company level.
