Overview

We are seeking qualified Sr. DevOps engineer, with Tableau Server Administration experience to help deliver our Elastic Operations service from our Managed Services team as we continue our rapid growth. This expansion comes at the right time with increasing customer demand for data and platform solutions.

As a Senior DevOps Engineer on our Managed Services Team, you will be responsible for technical delivery for technology projects related to Tableau administration and services hosted in the cloud.

Responsibilities:

  • Administer and manage Tableau Server and Tableau Cloud (Tableau Online), including security, data refreshes, user access, and governance.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to refresh failures, broken datasets, access requests, or slow performance on Tableau reports and dashboards.
  • Expertise in creating and publishing Tableau reports, dashboards, and workbooks, including troubleshooting visual and data-related issues.
  • Provide recommendations for optimizing the performance of Tableau datasets, extracts, and visuals.
  • Document best practices for Tableau Server and Tableau Cloud administration and develop onboarding and training materials for end-users.
  • Manage Tableau report subscriptions, alerts, and embedding Tableau dashboards into other applications.
  • Gather requirements, pain points, and service needs from clients related to their current Tableau Server or Tableau Cloud environments.
  • Deliver project-based consulting engagements to help clients deploy, manage, govern, and optimize their Tableau environments.
  • Lead weekly status reports for clients, proactively soliciting feedback through working sessions and ensuring client expectations are met.
  • Responds to Pager Incidents. Solves hard and challenging problems. Goes deep into customer processes and workflows to solve issues.

Required Experience:

  • 5+ years of relevant experience administering, configuring, and developing on Tableau Server and/or Tableau Cloud.
  • Experience in cloud-based environments such as AWS and/or Azure for hosting Tableau.
  • Ability to provide configuration, infrastructure, and performance tuning recommendations for Tableau Server environments.
  • Experience with PowerShell, Bash scripting, command-line interfaces, or Tableau’s REST API for administrative automation.
  • Expertise with Tableau Server Maintenance (e.g., using Tableau Services Manager (TSM) for upkeep and upgrades).
  • Exceptional customer-facing skills, including strong communication and project management abilities.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a passion for learning and mastering new technologies, techniques, and procedures.

Preferred Experience:

  • Tableau Server Certified Associate or Tableau Certified Architect certification is preferred.
  • Experience with enterprise data governance, compliance frameworks, and best practices for managing Tableau Server and Tableau Cloud environments.
  • Experience with both Windows and Linux deployments of Tableau Server.
  • Experience with deploying automation pipelines for Tableau environments (preferred Python).
  • DevOps exposure such as infrastructure as code, CI/CD, automated cloud deployments (preferred Github, Bitbucket, Terraform).
  • Interest in learning and working with other analytics platforms like Alteryx and KNIME is a plus.
