Position Overview:

The Senior Financial Analyst, Revenue and Finance Operations is a key role in the finance organization, reporting to the Director, Finance. This role will manage the entire end-to-end global process for revenues, driving accuracy, data quality, and efficiency across the Order-to-Collect and Record-to-Report cycles. You will help guide the business to bring best practices to our processing, reporting, budgeting, and forecasting capabilities, and will work across all levels of the organization, partnering with the business to provide reporting and insights that contribute to continuously improving data-driven decision making.

Responsibilities:

Business Partnering

  • Partner with the business (Sales, Operations and Compliance teams) to provide revenue guidance and consideration with respect to our growing product offering and portfolio of enterprise-grade customers.
  • Create and update process documentation and training material, and provide ongoing training to cross-functional organization members on matters related to revenue recognition and relevant contractual terms that impact revenue.
  • Act as a role model, technical resource, and collaborative business partner to all Finance team members.

Controllership, Financial Reporting, and Financial Planning and Analysis

  • Ownership of the global processes for OTC (order-to-collect) and RTR (record-to-report), running the end-to-end revenue accounting processes. This includes systems, process documentation, implementation ofnew products, and ensuring appropriate revenue accounting standard compliance under ASC 606, andother applicable standards.
  • Financial close ownership related to revenue and commissions, reconciliations, variance analysis relativeto budget and forecasts, internal controls, compliance, audits, and associated operational activities.
  • Perform the contract revenue write-up process and partner with our external auditors to ensure the completeness and accuracy of our revenue is maintained.
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly management reporting, working closely with the Director, Finance inmatters related to revenue forecasting and improving our forecasting capabilities.

Policy Management and Technical Accounting

  • Maintain and update our existing revenue recognition policies.
  • Incorporate new products into the OTC process, including testing, participating in the definition of necessary internal controls, and ensuring the appropriate accounting framework is in place to determine the right accounting model for existing and upcoming products.
  • Incorporate new enterprise-grade customers, providing technical revenue recognition guidance to determine the right accounting model for complex contracts.
  • As specific revenue matters develop, support the team through research, preparation of technical accounting analysis, and providing solutions and options, while working with our external auditors to ensure new and complex issues are discussed and approved in a timely manner.
  • Develop and update the internal guidelines on accounting policies for various departments and support the analysis of accounting matters as required.

Process Improvement and Automation

  • Drive efforts to transform the current revenue accounting and operations processes, by implementing new tools, building effective reconciliation and reporting dashboards, improving data quality and process efficiency, and identifying projects to enhance the revenue platform and related OTC processes.
  • Build relationships with and influence finance team members and partners across the business to identify areas of opportunity to transform and automate the revenue processes.
  • Operate as a champion of continuous improvement, identifying bottlenecks and issues, and building new processes or systems collaboratively with other business units and stakeholders as necessary.

Professional Requirements:

  • Prior experience in at least two of the areas of controllership, financial reporting (including public accounting), financial planning and analysis, technical accounting, policy management, finance systems implementation, and finance transformation.
  • Strong understanding of revenue recognition under U.S. GAAP or IFRS, including technical accounting and reporting requirements.
  • 4+ years experience with small to mid-sized organizations, in a similar role or client service capacity.

  • Ability to capture the end-to-end process and determine areas of opportunity for improvement, automation, and refinement to allow for the ability to grow and scale.
  • Advanced organizational skills, to be able to manage and prioritize several different activities in parallel.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to quality throughout the revenue recognition process.
  • Effective communicator, able to convey and present information in a concise and well-organized manner.
  • Exceptional problem solver, using rigorous logic and documented methods to solve problems, striving to seek the correct answer rather than the first answer, and to understand ‘why’.
  • Strong analytical skills, including an ability to build and maintain complex spreadsheets in Excel. A champion of new tools with a focus on process improvement and automation.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, able to collaborate with different individuals across the organization, and able to partner with all levels of management while relating to their needs and perspectives.
  • Displays integrity and is accountable for actions and statements.

Other Valued Attributes:

  • U.S. CPA designation or international equivalent (i.e., CPA, CA designation), plus related advanced degree.
  • Big Four experience and/or software industry experience would be an asset.
  • Experience implementing revenue systems such as Chargebee would be an asset.
  • Capability and willingness to rotate into leadership roles within other Finance functions over time.
