The Team:
The Web Strategy and Operations team is responsible for Jobber’s websites, including GetJobber.com. They are webmasters, digital marketers, and front-end developers who collaborate with marketing, sales, product, and growth teams to produce a good looking and high-impact website that drives our business. From the design & code frameworks, to serving, tooling, and testing, their focus is on technical excellence, efficiency, and continuous improvement to ensure GetJobber.com serves our growing community of Home Service entrepreneurs.
The Role:
Reporting to the Manager, Front-End Development, the Senior Front-End Developer will build and improve technical solutions for our public facing marketing properties.
It’s important that you’re a champion of best practices for well-tested, scalable, and well-organized code. In addition, you customize and extend tools and processes to increase the effectiveness of your team, and mentor others to do the same.
The Senior Front-End Developer will:
- Develop tools, frameworks, and workflows that reduce manual processes, enhance data accessibility, and enable data-driven decision-making.
- Lead initiatives to research and propose emerging technologies, strengthening our tech stack with a focus on simplicity, performance, scalability, and maintainability.
- Own multiple stages of a technical project, from scoping to project management, coding, and launch with little oversight from their manager, while providing project updates to stakeholders, teammates, and leadership.
- Coach, train, and mentor Level I and Level II Front-End Developers, and provide guidance in their work by holding them accountable to the team’s principles and values.
- Maintain and contribute to team documentation, and expand the editing capabilities of our content management systems.
- Have a deep technical skillset with the ability to find solutions to complex technical problems by looking outside of just coding through it.
- Stay up to date with emerging technologies and processes, and contribute to the evolution of our codebase to improve team processes and the tech stack.
- Participate in design and code reviews, actively contributing to knowledge sharing and mentoring within the team, while driving development solutions to have consistent practices and reusable code.
- Take ownership of code quality, establishing best practices to maintain high trust in the website across the organization.
- Ability to explain complex data concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, and hold them accountable to keep projects on time.
To be successful, you must have:
- Demonstrated years of experience in front-end web development with an extensive background in HTML, CSS, Javascript, accessibility, and web performance in a SaaS company.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with both non-technical and technical team members.
- To be ambitious and humble. You don’t accept the status quo simply because “it’s what we’ve always done.” You push for better, newer, and more innovative ways to do things—all while staying humble.
- Natural curiosity. You’re always looking to learn new skills and grow existing ones.
- Experience collaborating with designers.
- Comfort in the grey areas. You’re adaptable and can deal with ambiguity and changing priorities, with an eye for prioritization.
- Project management skills. You’re able to break down large, complex tasks into smaller pieces, assess risks, define priorities, and collaborate with team members to meet deadlines.
Compensation:
At Jobber, we believe that compensation should be transparent, fair, and reflective of your experience and growth. This role has a minimum annual salary of $121,000, a midpoint of $142,200, and a maximum salary of $163,600, designed to show the progression from learning the ropes to truly excelling.
We design our compensation to reflect each new hire’s skills, experience against the complexity of the role, ensuring a fair and competitive salary. Our range is intentionally broad to support growth and long-term impact, with fully established hires typically starting around the midpoint. The higher end of the range is reserved for those who have demonstrated deep expertise and lasting contributions, while offers below the midpoint reflect strong potential with room to develop. This approach ensures that compensation aligns with both an individual’s current capabilities and their opportunity for future growth.
