Natera is currently seeking a Senior/Lead Bioinformatics Scientist to join the Bioinformatics team focused on Oncology Product Development. The individual will participate in the design and prototyping of cutting-edge algorithms for analysis of genetic data and the development and validation of ctDNA-based diagnostic tests, interacting closely with colleagues in our molecular biology and biostatistics teams. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in bioinformatics and data science, optimally with experience in the analysis or modeling of DNA methylation data.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop and improve analysis pipelines for diagnostic tests, including detection of cancer-associated variants or methylation patterns and implementation of evidence-based quality control thresholds.
Leverage accurate statistical or probabilistic models to build the next round of algorithms and products.
Move products through the full development process, from research through commercial launch.
Help design and interpret molecular biology experiments.
Contribute to our intellectual property portfolio.
Drive rigorous data analysis efforts and support group efforts in the production of high-quality documentation.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Requirements:
Master’s degree or Ph.D. in a quantitative discipline (bioinformatics, engineering, applied mathematics, statistics, or similar).
Minimum of 3-5 years of post-graduate experience in a data science and/or bioinformatics role.
Desirable, but not required:
- Prior experience analyzing or modeling DNA methylation data.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Experience using Python or R for scientific data analysis and visualization.
Strong foundation in statistical modeling/machine learning, including probability theory and estimation/classification methods.
Experience with analysis of next-generation sequencing data, preferably including algorithm development or optimization.
Proven ability to apply mathematical principles to solve real estimation problems and implement practical solutions.
Experience writing code in a production environment and using version control.
Excellent communication skills and the desire to work in a dynamic and collaborative environment.
The pay range is listed and actual compensation packages are based on a wide array of factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, years & depth of experience, certifications and specific office location. This may differ in other locations due to cost of labor considerations.
